A Cosmopolitan Cover Satire --- And A Quick Rant

Several weeks ago I kept seeing a particular issue of Cosmopolitan magazine all over the newsstands. One phrase on that cover, which also featured the urban singer Rihanna, irked me.

Why in the HELL did the editors at Cosmo assume that they were talking to FIVE-YEAR-OLDS?! What's up, they're afraid that they'll offend people by calling that part of the female anatomy by its correct name, the vagina? I actually felt OFFENDED that WOMEN would mess with the names of their OWN body parts! Bad enough MEN do it, without the WOMEN sinking lower...

*SIGH*... (fail)

Deep inside I was screaming aloud, Dammit to hell, call it a vagina, not a pussy, a C-word, or a "va-JAY-jay", because it reminded me what I read in a Rodale Press encyclopaedia of sex and health about educating children about sex organs, about a passage instructing parents to teach the child to call a penis a penis and not a pee-pee, a wee-wee, or a thing.

After a while, it got me thinking, What if a MEN'S magazine took a similar approach with that shit? Well, I finally assembled such a cover, and here you go, with those two covers side by side. And you'll probably thank God that men's magazines DON'T have to resort to that crap --- unless they want to be excluded from most mass market stores!

A New Name For Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-Nursery

Seeing how Hillary Clinton reacted like a crybaby when she was asked about drivers licences for illegal aliens then refused to take a stand, complaining instead about how that question WASN'T a "vast right wing conspiracy" and then complained to Nuthin' But Crap announcer Mr Potato Head during the Democrat candidates' debate, I have a new name for her.

It all started with this question from Mr Potato Head:

"Senator Clinton, I just want to make sure of what I heard. Do you, the New York senator, Hillary Clinton, support the New York governor's plan to give illegal immigrants a driver's license? You told the New Hampshire paper that it made a lot of sense. Do you support his plan?"

Then the crybaby in Hillary came out...

"You know, Tim (Russert, AKA "Mr Potato Head" from Meet The Depressed on Nuthin' But Crap), this is where everybody plays gotcha. It makes a lot of sense. What is the governor supposed to do? He is dealing with a serious problem. We have failed. And George Bush has failed. Do I think this is the best thing for any governor to do? No. But do I understand the sense of real desperation, trying to get a handle on this? Remember, in New York, we want to know who's in New York. We want people to come out of the shadows. He's making an honest effort to do it. We should have passed immigration reform. "

Then she has the cheek to whinge and moan about being picked on.

Congressional Leaders Attack Real Talk Radio --- But Americans Are Fighting Back

In recent months a number of Democratic House and Senate leaders, as well as an Independent Senator who, with socialist views, tends to poll with the Dems, have called for the reimposition of an insidious form of censorship that would stifle the development of radio.
This form of censorship was imposed upon broadcasters from 1949 to 1987 but was repealed when it was found to have constrained open political discourse.

Enter the so-called 'Fairness' Doctrine.

Initially introduced by US House Representative Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) in January as a means of "reforming" the media and forcibly instilling "balance", simply because people like him have failed in talk radio.

You may recall that Air America Radio --- a patently left-wing radio network whose commentators were more often than not loaded with irrational partisan hatred --- had a similar message that could already be heard in the following outlets:

* ABC News
* CBS News
* Cable News Network
* CNBC
* MSNBC
* NBC News
* National Public Radio
* Public Broadcast Service
* Associated Press
* Most major newspapers like the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, the St Louis Post-Dispatch, and the Washington Post
* Most major news magazines like Time, Newsweek, and US News & World Report

And in the end the network wound up losing so much money, at least in part because they PAID stations to carry their material, that they have since entered receivership and are trying to recover.

And word is that Communist organisations like Communist Party USA (which was heavily funded by the Soviet Union), the Maoist-influenced Revolutionary Communist Party, and World Can't Wait are all complicit in the efforts to censor the airwaves.

Representative Hinchey --- joined by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, an Independent who has left-of-centre views --- have been supported in their efforts by patently anti-American left-of-centre billionaire George Soros, who has financed a number of left-leaning groups like the Massachusetts-based "Free Press" and other mellifluous-sounding front groups in effort to undermine freedom of speech and maybe even American society as a whole. Soros has also funded organisations dedicated to decriminalising dangerous illegal drugs, even to the point of sending security guards to attack those who protest his methods at public exhibitions.

And whilst the controlled media have been ignoring his numerous and ethical violations in his quest to steal power from and even censor the American people --- they have habitually mongered hatred toward independent media outlets like talk radio and internet-based news sites like NewsMax and WorldNetDaily and even bloggers, and even Fox News (which like MySpace, is a part of NewsCorp, albeit in a different division) as well, all because they have found ways to report the news without injecting their left-of-centre political biases and spin into the news.

They have also attacked the military, enforcement of immigration policy, business, and even innocent people like the Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape, not to mention overexaggerating social problems like homelessness, and even demonised religious conservatives.

Another leftist group, the so-called Centre for American Progress, have bemoaned the dominance of conservatives in talk radio by calling it "structural imbalance" in a fake report.

Now, the conservatives are fighting back, not only by contacting their Congressional representatives, but also by introducing, then passing, a bill that would prohibit the reimposition of the "Fairness" Doctrine without an Act of Congress.

The National Association of Broadcasters' CEO and president, David Rehr, has himself condemned the "Fairness Doctrine", citing the numbers of media outlets available today, with more than 13 000 radio stations, more than 1 700 television stations, and a myriad of websites with visual, video, and audio outlets catering to basically any viewpoint in America.

One needs to remember that with the Left --- especially in the editorial desks --- openly promoting a more neoliberal viewpoint that condemns America, condemns conservatism, and condemns freedom --- the marketplace has opened with the advent of myriad cable and satellite channels, including more television news sources, the growth of real talk radio, and the growth of internet-based news sites --- thus leading to the successes of folks like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, and Neal Boortz.

And that is the basic rule of the marketplace: You MUST be able to deliver a product the people actually want. With the liberal media dominating print and television news, millions of Americans have chosen to go with real talk radio; Air America Radio failed precisely because the audiences decided that they did not want to hear the same thing that they could easily see on no fewer than six television news channels, read in most major newspapers, or read in most major news magazines.

But because the Left have failed to attract an audience they seek to force-feed their message to the general public, most of whom have determined that they do not want that type of agenda embedded in their news coverage.

And ironically one of their own hosts has been badly burnt at least in part by another controversial talk radio host who aggressively shut down a rival: Al Sharpton, who himself hosts a show carried on 21 stations, led a campaign to bust Don Imus off CBS Radio and MSNBC over his controversial derogatory remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

Whilst Imus himself did a lot of damage to his career and his credibility --- he willingly apologised publicly and again to the Rutgers team --- incidentally on the same night New Jersey Democratic Governor John Corzine was injured in a wreck caused by a speeding state trooper who crashed the SUV through a guardrail at 91 miles an hour and Corzine was not wearing his seat belt.

But inasmuch damage as he did to himself with his racist comments --- Imus also apologised, and after he was basically driven off the air by racists like Al Sharpton (who has openly condemned Whites and may have contributed to the deaths of several Hispanic employees of a neighbourhood clothing store that burnt in the late 1980s) and Jesse Jackson (who is infamous for his anti-Semitic remarks) --- he even saw fit to file a lawsuit against CBS for breach of contract.

Sharpton was further aided and abetted in his efforts by a rather left-leaning group, Media Matters for America, who not only attempted to have Rush Limbaugh removed from Armed Forces Radio but are funded by Soros as well.

Was the Don Imus affair a dry run to make a charge against the ever-dominant talk radio host Rush Limbaugh? One county government in Florida did consider withdrawing their association with a Miami-area talk radio station because the station carry his show.

And now Senators are debating the matter, just after the House passed the Broadcast Freedom Act. Maybe you too could get involved in this effort, as the reality is people from both the left AND the right regularly get their points heard on real talk radio. Here is a site that will help you get started on that.

And if we don't start standing up to the censors who would want to silence real talk radio right now, there is no question that a onesided media would be forced upon the populace --- and then the next step would be forcible viewing and/or listening of the same onesided media --- and then other outlets would soon wind up under government censorship diktats.

Whether or not you agree with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Michael Savage and Neal Boortz and Glenn Beck and Bill Bennett, you have got to admit that the reimposition of the "Fairness" Doctrine would interfere with your freedom of speech, not to mention your freedom of choice in how you get news, information, and commentary, not to mention even entertainment.

Sixteen Interstates The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: INTERSTATE 57, SIKESTON TO AUSTIN

Without question, the current Interstate 30 is, with exception to Pennsylvania Congressman Bud Shuster's Interstate 99 and the San Francisco Bay Area's "Interstate 238", the most misaligned interstate on the grid. And for an x0 interstate it has a terribly short run.

In my last report on this series we relocated Interstate 30 to a southerly corridor linking Texarkana, AR to Birmingham, AL. Now we can concentrate on a corridor that utilises that freed corridor and then extends further south still, thus providing a direct route from Chicago to the heart of Texas.

Enter Interstate 57 which gets a well-deserved southern extension.
Already we know that the interstate route hardly gets out of Illinois before reaching its present termination point at Interstate 55 near Sikeston MO. But we have a new solution for this as it reaches into the growing South, and especially into rapidly-growing Arkansas and even into the Lone Star State.

The extended I-57 follows US60 west of Sikeston before following a new route that connects more directly to Penermon and Bernie, both in Stoddard County, before following MO25 south to Kennett then following a new direct path into Arkansas, tying directly to Jonesboro and Newport before following US67 down to Little Rock. Some of US67 is already practically at interstate grade as it is...making the transition to the I-57 even easier.

At Little Rock all of the old x30 routes would become x57 routes. Past that, it's a simple matter of establishing new signs. In other words, simply replacing the I-30 with the I-57 works well.

Into Texas, the interstate follows US59 and then TX155 to Tyler, then to Palestine, where it follows US79 in its southwestern run to Rockdale, then veers off in a more southerly direction to Elgin then to the southeastern part of Austin where it connects to the I-35.

In the Lone Star State x57 routes could be used in and around Austin and even Tyler, with a spur to Longview and the I-20, maybe an I-357 could make that connection along US259. An I-257 could form an outer east/west loop round some of Austin. And then Tyler could pick up an I-657 unless TxDOT seek to use one of the remaining x20s for that area.

For Arkansas and Texas, the Texarkana area could benefit from an I-857 or even a new I-430 loop, and though it makes the area appear like Kansas City on a smaller scale with the I-435 going through Kansas and Missouri, that area continues to grow in its own right.And that is much the case for most of Arkansas and much of eastern and central Texas. With Gilmer, Buffalo, Franklin, and Milano also gaining interstate access, and Natural State communities like Sherwood, Jacksonville, Searcy, and Bradford also getting on the Interstate Highway System, the I-57 will provide yet another vital link from the Gulf Coast and Mexico to the Great Lakes that is becoming increasingly necessary.

And though we will never see the elimination of American boundaries we will see the global trade network continue to grow as we will also continue to see our economic base grow.The route also provides improved access for the agrarian areas of Texas, Arkansas, and even Missouri to greater markets like the Great Lakes region. Chicago and even Indiana and Wisconsin will readily feel the effects; St Louis will also benefit with reduced truck traffic on their bridges; those trucks can travel from Texas and Mexico on another direct route to Chicago...which could see their reputation for commerce boosted yet even further and provide gains as far-reaching as Milwaukee, Indianapolis, and even Detroit. Another spur from Newport could connect to Walnut Ridge, even to Pocahontas.

And the I-57 would improve the safety of thousands upon thousands of Southern drivers as heavier traffic could be taken off of some rural routes yet a major interstate artery would still remain in place and remain viable, even with a new designation.

MySpace.com Practise Censorship By Attacking Conservative Users---From A Conservative Victim Of MySpace

The administrators at MySpace.com dumped my account in violation of the law AND my First Amendment freedom of speech rights yesterday afternoon and now they won't allow me to create a new account!I was innocently using the services of the site, innocently networking and making new friends, when suddenly I found myself facing the following message: Invalid ID, The member has closed their account, or the profile has been deleted, and then I discovered an email from MySpace telling me that my account had been deleted for a "violation of Terms of Service".
I'M GOING TO DISPROVE THEIR LAUNDRY LIST OF FALSEHOODS RIGHT NOW:
"Your MySpace account has been deleted for violating our Terms of Service. "
So-called "violations" which they did not specify, but just gave their usual laundry list of false reasons.
"This is usually due to one of the following: * Nude images, sexually suggestive or violent photos"
Of which I had NONE OF.
"* Covering our banner ads with HTML"
I wouldn't know how to do that so that's out of the question
"* Harassing other users"
Impossible. I may have rebutted a liberal here and there but in the end it's my GOD-GIVEN right backed by the United States Constitution to rebut any lies uttered by the Left.

Your Tax Dollars At Work: Unnecessary Highway Sign Font Manipulation

In some states you have started seeing a strange new font appear on some of your highway signs. You may hvae noticed that a number of the letters and numbers don't look quite the way they used to.
The reason: The federal government have started publishing standards for how to implement this new font, called "Clearview".
And you are paying for this rather radical adjustment to your signage.
It is already becoming more commonplace throughout Arkansas, Texas, and Pennsylvania. But just because PennDot, ADOT, and TxDot like it, is it really necessary?
The study says yes...and the idea is that instead of using standard FHWA (Federal Highway Administration) fonts which come in series A through F with a super boldfaced E Modified font, the latter of which has become de rigueur in Oklahoma and to a lesser extent Missouri, but which has become standard for most state route markers in Oklahoma, with the exception of the new Oklahoma state markers.
The new Oklahoma markers debuted in January with an outline of the state near the top of the frame and the usually D-series FHWA font numbers near the bottom, with some three-digit numbers getting C-series and a few B-series.

But back to the Clearview/FHWA Standards: I really don't see the need for a new font if the enhanced visibility is only a small fraction (11 to 15 percent) or even if the font uses a smaller footprint in some cases than the FHWA counterpart.
And besides, if the conditions are heavily fogged, or if you are experiencing reduced vision, it doesn't matter what you use on your signs, you are going to have greater difficulty reading the signs.
The FHWA's, TxDot's, and Penndot's own studies show that there is not that much improvement in the visibility in Clearview Series 5WR over FHWA Standard Series D or E, though Series E---that is the font you most commonly see on most highway signs in the United States, Spain, Holland, South Africa (which are using more Normschrift, the font series common to road signs in Germany), Australia (though the state of Victoria, which have begun implementing UK-style letter-number combination route designations, like M1, A2, and B3, are also using Transport, which is common to UK roads and to some extent Pennsylvania), New Zealand, and most provincial highways in Canada.
This may be a sign for you to take better care of your eyes in the first place, see an ophthamologist as necessary, I have, and used to use reading glasses for a while in my teens, and later wore prescription sunglasses, and definitely DO NOT forget to take Vitamin A or at the least eat Vitamin A-enriched foods like carrots.
Also to note that states need to start making larger signs with much larger fonts, which is the experience in Oklahoma and Missouri. Modot are now using larger and bolder fonts with slightly smaller route markers which may well be a disadvantage on that part if you are trying to figure out what route you are about to take especially in dark and/or inclement conditions.
As for ODOT, you can see clearly that their experience is to use bolder fonts and sometimes larger route markers, at least in Tulsa you will see wider route markers for Interstate 244 with bolder numbers. It is not uncommon to see US Highway Route markers still bearing the bolder numbers although most US highway signs bear D Series.

(Hypothetical examples of typical motorway junction overhead signage. In reality State Highway 17 in California is ACTUALLY north/south in Counties Santa Clara and Santa Cruz; also, California have not used white state route markers since 1964.)

Maybe I should offer my own solution to the problem: Fill the whole sign, larger markers as with Oklahoma, larger fonts as with Missouri, but even bigger still, FILL THE SIGN with text and route markers, as much as 25 percent larger markers and 25 to 35 percent larger fonts, that way there can be no doubt about the legibility of the signs.
And we won't need another series of fonts to mess with either.

GEORGE SOROS: A CRIMINAL THREAT TO AMERICA

Much attention has been paid to Hungarian-born immigrant George Soros who has made his billions on the backs of foreign currencies. He tried to break the British pound sterling and the Malaysian ringgit, then had to deal with French authorities regarding suspect investments.

And now he has squarely targeted the American government.

Soros has dumped millions upon millions of his money into fringe leftist organisations like MoveOn.org and other Communist front groups in effort to hijack democracy as we know it and steal Congress from the people, even dumping millions into the media for falsehood-riddled and defamatory advertisements, openly attacking a sitting wartime president.

And this pattern continues even after he poured millions into an effort to hijack the George Walker Bush presidency but as we all know more than enough Americans stood up to Soros and the likes of MoveOn.org---a neocommunist front group established by supporters of the media-selected phony president Bill Clinton when they did not like the truth being told about Clinton's myriad scandals including his lying to a grand jury---and yet both Soros and MoveOn.org are cursed with one thing in common: their irrational partisan hatred.

They are consumed with a reckless and vengeful intolerance of anyone who disagrees with their closedminded viewpoint, their flawed drumbeat of hate the President, hate Congress, hate George W Bush, hate Dick Cheney, hate Condoleezza Rice, hate, hate, hate.

They also play the blame game, blame the President, blame Congress, blame George W Bush, blame Dick Cheney, blame Condoleezza Rice, blame, blame, blame, blame them for Iraq, blame them for Afghanistan, blame them for the terrorist attacks of 11 September, blame, blame, blame, especially when many of their own principals:

* APPEASED those who CAUSED the acts of 11 September by failing to address the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing AND the Nairobi and Daressalaam embassy bombings in 1998 AND the USS Cole bombing in 2000 (1)

* Worked with a president who HAD HIS CHANCE to pop Osama BinLaden and behead AlQaeda before they could gain the power that they have gained (2) and BLEW THAT CHANCE whilst engaged in sexual play with an intern (3)

* DISMANTLED the military by consistently cutting the budget time after time, to the point where military aircraft were SCAVENGED FOR PARTS (4)

* ABUSED the military to cover up presidential scandals at home to no avail (5) putting them under international dictates (6) and even destroyed the good name of Michael New when he refused to wear the blue UN helmets (7)

* AIDED AND ABETTED illegal aliens in the United States (8)

* ATTACKED the sovereignty of the republic of Serbia for innocently defending themselves from terrorist invaders (13)
* APPEASED the flooding of Red Chinese products into the American marketplace by overlooking their human rights violations for the sake of cheaper products (13) further damaging the American manufacturing industries (14) and showing blatant hypocrisy toward their union backers by favouring cheap goods from and slave labour in Red China over quality-made American goods built by union labour in the United States (15)

* ATTACKED the freedoms of gun owners' rights (16)

* ATTACKED the freedoms of unborn rights supporters (17)

* Tried FORCING socialised medicine upon an unwilling American populace which openly protested their national "Hillarycare" tour (18)

* And even tried to attack the success of talk radio hosts critical of the Clinton anointistration by proposing the reimposition of the so-called Fairness Doctrine in 1993 (19)

* APPEASED North Korean dictators Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il by giving them two-way talks that led to them getting oil for their country in supposed exchange for shutting down their nuclear power plant (20)...but as we all know, Clinton let Il off the hook and didn't hold him to account, now they have nuclear weapons.

* And all have been glorified by the controlled media with their similar partisan tendencies (21)

So I don't see where their principals have anything to stand on. These people reacted with rage in 1994 when we the people decided that for the first time in 40 years we really truly were going to have a Congress by the people for the people of the people not the media. The result was the Republican revolution and many new measures were passed, though the President did veto many of those, but he had to be dragged kicking and screaming to approve welfare reform then claimed all the credit.

Most recently that same faux President erupted at Fox News' Chris Wallace in an interview, falsely claiming he had a plan to catch BinLaden. We all know that he didn't even try.

Just showing you all of that so you can see the background of the supporters of Former President Bill Clinton.

And that is the sort of background that fuels the contempt that Soros and MoveOn.org have for President George W Bush and for the Republican Congress.

Truth is they also have contempt for the majority of Americans who WANT secure borders, who WANT to protect their freedom, who WANT to finish the job in Afghanistan and Iraq.

And let's look into Soros' background even more:

Soros has funded campaigns to decriminalise doctor-assisted homicide and dangerous drugs like cannabis.

He has also heavily funded Democrat campaigns as far back as 2000.

He has singlehandedly collapsed the Thai economy. (That article link ALSO contains more information about his movements that helped stifle privatisation in Russia and fuel the rise of antisocial socialism. They even conveniently and falsely and grossly underreported the numbers of Nato-killed Serbians.)

He has employed methods similar to those used by Enron executives.

He has established "Democracy Collaborative", another neosocialist group that sponsored John Kerry in his failed run for the presidency.

He spent more than $80.000 on one of his organisations dedicated to defeating laws criminalising drugs in effort to unseat a county prosecutor in New York state in the 2004 Democratic primary...in a method that violated state and federal campagin laws.

He then pushed MORE money into Fenton Communications---a leftist PR firm that claims MoveOn.org as a top client---which then pushed a greater bid focusing on an irrational anti-American, anti-war message.
(And helped push the campaigns of Wesley Clark AND Howard Dean for the DNC nomination.)

He also accused US House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-IL, of a "smear campaign" when Hastert confronted Soros on the source of his $7bn fortune.

And a grieving parent who tried to warn the National Press Club at a 2004 press conference of the threat that George Soros poses to American freedom liberty sovereignty and democracy with his drugs legalisation plans was brutally assaulted by hired criminal thugs who dislocated Steve Steiner's shoulder. Mr Steiner is the founder of Dads And Mad Moms Against Drug Dealers (DAMMADD)...and paid to attend a conference where draconian security personnel dictated that if one person at a table dared dissent everyone would be dumped out.

He led a workshop an April 2005 workshop in Arizona featuring 70 wealthy individuals on how to push his brand of Marxism, a meeting convened by a former Clinton Commerce Department official, and on which Democrat party officials were kept informed.

And he gave more than $24m of his money to organisations like MoveOn.org in the 2004 election cycle alone in effort to steal the White House and the Congress from the American people.

But of course the controlled media are hellbent on ignoring his evildoing in favour of mongering fake scandals against the majority Republican leadership and thus the Republican majority in this country are further threatened as George Soros seeks to encourage government by the media for the media of the media not the people...and you know it needs to be the other way around.

The media conveniently defame the upstanding character of Halliburton whilst ignoring a real threat to our freedom from George Soros whose personal wealth is more than half that of the needlessly maligned company.

And whilst Republicans raised large amounts of money on their own, and through a wider variety of donors---George Soros was cited as having donated to the left-leaning Media Fund and MoveOn.org, thus furthering his reputation for having bought MoveOn.org and a number of left-wing organisations. It has even gone to the point where MoveOn.org have now claimed they own the Democrat party...with pride!

He also bankrolled Ned Lamont's theft of Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman's party nomination in the Democratic primary in that state Since then Senator Lieberman has received a major boost from REPUBLICANS...including even those in the WHITE HOUSE...who have sacrificed their own party candidate in that race, a man named Schlesinger, for the sake of keeping the treasonous fringe out of power, particularly in a state where independents outnumber both Democrats and Republicans.

And George Soros is indeed responsible for hijacking a major political party.

Someone needs to tell George Soros that we the people have taken back our power to choose our leadership. We the people will never tolerate those who seek to steal power from us by thinking they can "buy" their way into power.

And George Soros has clearly shown us how much contempt he has for the American people as a whole as well as our government and our way of life. Why didn't he simply move back to Hungary and try to improve the way that those people live instead?! What is he doing here in America if he doesn't like it so much?

O, I see. He is trying to steal power from us so he can impose his neocommunist hegemony upon the masses.
This is where we absolutely positively MUST wake the hell up and see the light. This is where we need to see how much of a threat George Soros is to our freedom. This is where we MUST see where the REAL culture of corruption and criminality reside: well within the Democratic party and the neocommunist neosocialist neoliberal fringe minority movements, both of which are heavily funded by George Soros.

It is now way past time to start investigating George Soros. You read this right: We need a US Attorney or the Attorney General to indict Soros---already convicted in France of insider trading---for his fraudulent dealings in American politics.

Where We Can Stick Soros

We can bust George Soros under the following laws:

Federal Election Code, Section 437g, Subsection (A)(12)(d)(1)(A)(i)
Any person who knowingly and willfully commits a violation of any provision of this Act which involves the
making, receiving, or reporting of any contribution, donation or expenditure—

(i) aggregating $25000 or more during a calendar year shall be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both

On which we have MULTIPLE charges involved in just the 2006 campaigns alone let alone the 2004 and 2002 campaigns.

Federal Election Code, Section 437g, Subsection (A)(12)(d)(1)(B)

(B) In the case of a knowing and willful violation of section 441b(b)(3) of this title, the penalties set forth in this subsection shall apply to a violation involving an amount aggregating $250 or more during a calendar year. Such violation of section 441b(b)(3) of this title may incorporate a violation of section 441c(b), 441f, and 441g of this title.

The law goes yet even further. Check out the following further penalties:

(C) In the case of a knowing and willful violation of section 441h of this title, the penalties set forth in this subsection shall apply without regard to whether the making, receiving, or reporting of a contribution or expenditure of $1,000 or more is involved.

(D) Any person who knowingly and willfully commits a violation of section 320 (2 U.S.C. § 441f) involving an amount aggregating more than $10000 during a calendar year shall be—

(i) imprisoned for not more than 2 years if the amount is less than $25.000 (and subject to imprisonment under subparagraph (A) if the amount is $25000 or more);

(ii) fined not less than 300 percent of the amount involved in the violation and not more than the greater of—

(I) $50000; or

(II) 1000 percent of the amount involved in the violation; or

(iii) both imprisoned under clause (i) and fined under clause (ii)

Of course Soros could indeed claim ignorance and try to get a lesser sentence and fine, but it is doubtful that he will get that sort of outcome; he is on his way to prison and getting some of his wealth liquidated, maybe even deported back to Hungary where he came from. Check this out anyway:

In any criminal action brought for a violation of any provision of this Act or of chapter 95 or chapter 96 of this title 26, any defendant may evidence their lack of knowledge or in tent to commit the alleged violation by introducing as evidence a conciliation agreement entered into between the defendant and the Commission under subsection (a)(4)(A) of this section which specifically deals with the act or failure to act constituting such violation and which is still in effect.

Federal Election Code, Section 441a
(a) Dollar limits on contributions.

(1) Except as provided in subsection (i) and section 315A (2 U.S.C. § 441a-1), no person shall make contributions*—

(A) to any candidate and his authorized political committees with respect to any election for Federal office which, in the aggregate, exceed $2000;

(B) to the political committees established and maintained by a national political party, which are not the authorized political committees of any candidate, in any calendar year which, in the aggregate, exceed $25000;

(C) to any other political committee (other than a committee described in subparagraph (D)) in any calendar year which, in the aggregate, exceed $5000; or

(D) to a political committee established and maintained by a State committee of a political party in any calendar year which, in the aggregate, exceed $10000.

This next section applies to organisations like MoveOn.org which have ALSO put themselves at risk of being shut down for their OWN campaign violations, in addition to that of their primary benefactor George Soros:

(2) No multicandidate political committee shall make contributions—

(A) to any candidate and his authorized political committees with respect to any election for Federal office which, in the aggregate, exceed $5000;

(B) to the political committees established and maintained by a national political party, which are not the authorized political committees of any candidate, in any calendar year, which, in the aggregate, exceed $15000; or

(C) to any other political committee in any calendar year which, in the aggregate, exceed $5000.

Another section applicable to groups like MoveOn.org in this matter, as well as those established by Soros, especially with regard to donations like those from George Soros and others like him, is Section 441a Subsection (f) which reads as follows:

(f) Prohibited contributions and expenditures.

No candidate or political committee shall knowingly accept any contribution or make any expenditure in violation of the provisions of this section. No officer or employee of a political committee shall knowingly accept a contribution made for the benefit or use of a candidate, or knowingly make any expenditure on behalf of a candidate, in violation of any limitation imposed on contributions and expenditures under this section.

If we take into account the assault upon Steve Steiner we may find that the next few provisos also apply to the hired thugs who attacked Steiner, the organisers, and possibly even Soros himself:

§ 594. Intimidation of voters

Whoever intimidates, threatens, coerces, or attempts to intimidate, threaten, or coerce, any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of such other person to vote or to vote as he may choose, or of causing such other person to vote for, or not to vote for, any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, Presidential elector, Member of the Senate, Member of the House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, or Resident Commissioner, at any election held solely or in part for the purpose of electing such candidate, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.

(This article certainly applies to a now-dismissed staffer of a California GOP congressional candidate in a recent article.)

§ 606. Intimidation to secure political contributions

Whoever, being one of the officers or employees of the United States mentioned in section 602 of this title, discharges, or promotes, or degrades, or in any manner changes the offi cial rank or compensation of any other offi cer or employee, or promises or threatens so to do, for giving or withholding or neglecting to make any contribution of money or other valuable thing for any political purpose, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

§ 1505. Obstruction of proceedings before departments, agencies and committees

Whoever, with intent to avoid, evade, prevent, or obstruct compliance, in whole or in part, with any civil investigative demand duly and properly made under the Antitrust Civil Process Act, willfully withholds misrepresents, removes from any place, conceals, covers up, destroys, mutilates, alters, or by other means falsifies any documentary material, answers to written interrogatories, or oral testimony, which is the subject of such demand; or attempts to do so or solicits another to do so; or

Whoever corruptly, or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication infl uences, obstructs, or impedes or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede the due and proper administration of the law under which any pending proceeding is being had before any department or agency of the United States, or the due and proper exercise of the power of inquiry under which any inquiry or investigation is being had by either House, or any committee of either House, or any joint committee of the Congress—

Shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned not more than five years, or, if the offense involves international or domestic terrorism (as defined in section 2331 [of 18 U.S.C.]), imprisoned not more than 8 years, or both.

So evidently we have some serious cases of election fraud we could slam Soros and even associations affiliated with him, from MoveOn.org to the Open Society Institute. We have so far 11 ways to break Soros and his evil neocommunist empire. But that's not all of it: The Racketeer and Influenced Corrupt Organisations Act, Title 18, United States Code, Section 1952 (relating to racketeering) would also apply to both Soros and to groups like MoveOn.org, as would Section 1956 (relating to the laundering of monetary instruments).

If we had a United States Attorney or an Attorney General willing to prosecute this matter we could easily send Mr Soros to prison for an extended term...and/or even deport him back to his native Hungary. We could also seize his wealth and use that to finance the Justice Department or at least the United States Attorneys offices. And to be able to use $7bn to the REAL advantage of the people would be a credit (1) and a benefit (2) to the United States...but only if we put the heat on our government. This is where YOU have to pick up the ball.
This is where YOU write, call, EMAIL, your Congressman, your Senator, your Representative, the Department of Justice, the United States Attorney's Office, and you DEMAND a full investigation into George Soros, if not also the organisations that he financed.

And then we would see some REAL cleanup of the political financing scene. THAT is what American politics needs...not a flawed Voter Disenfranchisement Act that muzzles the common man and the common woman for 30 to 60 days before a primary or an election yet gives the controlled media a free pass to continue as they see fit promoting their choices with biased coverage.

And then we truly would have government BY the people FOR the people OF the people NOT the media!

So is George Soros REALLY the man who bought the world? Not necessarily but he is certainly trying hard to buy Congress and the American government.

(2) “State” means any State of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of the United States, any political subdivision, or any department, agency, or instrumentality thereof;
(3) “person” includes any individual or entity capable of holding a legal or beneficial interest in property;
(4) “enterprise” includes any individual, partnership, corporation, association, or other legal entity, and any union or group of individuals associated in fact although not a legal entity;
(5) “pattern of racketeering activity” requires at least two acts of racketeering activity, one of which occurred after the effective date of this chapter and the last of which occurred within ten years (excluding any period of imprisonment) after the commission of a prior act of racketeering activity;
(6) “unlawful debt” means a debt
(A) incurred or contracted in gambling activity which was in violation of the law of the United States, a State or political subdivision thereof, or which is unenforceable under State or Federal law in whole or in part as to principal or interest because of the laws relating to usury, and
(B) which was incurred in connection with the business of gambling in violation of the law of the United States, a State or political subdivision thereof, or the business of lending money or a thing of value at a rate usurious under State or Federal law, where the usurious rate is at least twice the enforceable rate;
(7) “racketeering investigator” means any attorney or investigator so designated by the Attorney General and charged with the duty of enforcing or carrying into effect this chapter;
(8) “racketeering investigation” means any inquiry conducted by any racketeering investigator for the purpose of ascertaining whether any person has been involved in any violation of this chapter or of any final order, judgment, or decree of any court of the United States, duly entered in any case or proceeding arising under this chapter;
(9) “documentary material” includes any book, paper, document, record, recording, or other material; and
(10) “Attorney General” includes the Attorney General of the United States, the Deputy Attorney General of the United States, the Associate Attorney General of the United States, any Assistant Attorney General of the United States, or any employee of the Department of Justice or any employee of any department or agency of the United States so designated by the Attorney General to carry out the powers conferred on the Attorney General by this chapter. Any department or agency so designated may use in investigations authorized by this chapter either the investigative provisions of this chapter or the investigative power of such department or agency otherwise conferred by law.

We all know that the American Civil Liberties Union have involved themselves in a number of controversial courtroom decisions in recent years. We have seen them get involved in issues ranging from immigration issues to marriage issues to unborn rights to freedom of speech.
But their voracity toward attacking laws that the people approved in effort to counter some of the more radical problems afflicting our society with some common sense may have gone way too far.
So what does the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act---the RICO Act---have to do with the ACLU's antics? More than you think. And here's one example:

Last year the ACLU successfully won the overturn of an Oregon law prohibiting live sex acts. But before you start cheering, understand that they also explain their own motives in their Policy 211: “The ACLU supports the decriminalization of prostitution and opposes state regulation of prostitution”.
There is a sinister side behind this policy: With their opposition to zoning laws and their claim that whatever consenting adults do in private is "their own business" it suddenly becomes more evident that such activity can suddenly become public and next thing you know you have houses of ill repute opening near schools and churches and amusement parks and neighbourhood park.
But wait, you say. What about my right to conduct business like that?
NO! WHAT ABOUT PARENTS' RIGHTS TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN WITHOUT THAT SORT OF THING CONSTANTLY LOOMING OVER THEIR HEADS? You want to sell pornograhic magazines at corner markets? I have no problem! But this is different!
And speaking of children and sex acts, they even challenged a 1997 Massachusetts law prohibiting the mere possession of child pornography. But for those who do not have the benefit of HighBeam.com membership I'll reprint excerpts from that Boston Herald article.

In their particular quest for seeking the appeasement of paedophiles and paedophilia and decriminalisation of child pornography the ACLUnatics have dug themselves a deep enough hole that if we had an attorney general with enough balls to indict them we could surely see them hit with no less than seven ways to pursue criminal charges under the RICO Act...and the case would stick like peanut butter to hot toast.

"The law was officially signed by acting Gov. Paul Cellucci at a ceremony yesterday. Under the statute, individuals who are caught with any visual or computer image of a child under 18 engaged in sex acts could be prosecuted as felons.
First-time offenders could be jailed for up to five years if convicted, while second-time offenders could face five years to life imprisonment and those convicted a third time could be jailed for 10 years to life, the law states. "

And that's supposedly not good enough for the ACLU? Hello, I thought that this was the ACLU that cared so much for children's rights when they have problems with schools that won't let them wear "F--K BUSH" tee shirts!
Alas that is the other side of the coin: The ACLU will eagerly protect child molestors claiming it is just a lifestyle choice, denigrating homosexuals and bisexuals by comparing paedophilia to those two groups...and this ON TOP of the ACLUnatics' blind defence of a Marxist agenda concerning LGBT folk!

Cellucci was joined at yesterday's signing by the father of 10-year-old Jeffrey Curley, who was kidnapped, raped and murdered in October allegedly by two men branded by authorities as sexual predators.

There were court affidavits from two inmates claiming Jaynes engages in sex acts in the prison without discipline, shows off his victim’s autopsy and has a fat canteen account courtesy of NAMBLA.

Now, this is the sort of filth that the ACLU seek to appease in their entirely ungodly alliance with Nambla. And we come back to those four elements of the RICO Act which if we had an attorney general with enough balls we could easily break those filthy bastards under that act...and then bust Nambla under the same act to boot! I can't see why we mayn't be able to trace child pornography if we can trace terrorist activity...but more importantly it is going to come down to us to start busting child pornographers online and those efforts are being aided by law enforcement and by websites like this one. And BTW that law would most certainly pass constitutional muster considering the grave impact child pornography would impose upon the general public!

ANOTHER EXCEDRIN HEADACHE (BristolMyersSquibb trademark, 1964): APPEASING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Illegal immigration is constantly in the news day and night, 24X7X366. Most Americans, irrespective of skin colour, age, ancestry, sex, or sexuality, are increasingly opposed to people jumping the borders...so much that an organisation formed in order to monitor the borders to check for gaps in the Immigration and Naturalisation Service's and the Border Patrol's efforts.
What you may or may not also know is the ACLUnatics have been front and centre in their efforts to oppose the Minuteman Project---in fact they harassed the organisation by interfering with their efforts to help enforce immigration laws and the borders by falsely branding them as "racists" and setting up warning systems and advising illegal aliens not to cross the border where Minuteman Project volunteers were working in Arizona. Sounds like the Minuteman Project are within their rights to sue the ACLUnatics for defamation of character and libel...and could crush them with a bootheel from HELL.
The ACLU even have an "Immigration Rights Project" which for 19 years has worked to find ways to flout US immigration laws. And this is on top of their move to ask a Los Angeles court to allow illegal immigrant groups to intervene in Judicial Watch's Special Order 40 Lawsuit in September 2006.
Earlier this year the ACLU complained about immigration law reforms stripping away the due process rights of illegals...showing you just how far off course immigration law enforcement has really gone.

I just found another THREE sections of the RICO Act with which we can indict the ACLUnatics which apply in this situation and they are as follows:

Section 1425 (relating to the procurement of citizenship or nationalization unlawfully)
Section 1426 (relating to the reproduction of naturalization or citizenship papers)
Section 1427 (relating to the sale of naturalization or citizenship papers)

In addition, because such activities invariably involve forged government documents like passports and drivers licences and visas, we find that these articles ALSO warrant prosecution under the following acts:

Section 1542 (relating to false statement in application and use of passport)
Section 1543 (relating to forgery or false use of passport)
Section 1544 (relating to misuse of passport)
Section 1546 (relating to fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents)

The ACLU have even been known to defend illegal aliens' supposed rights to welfare payments. Therefore I propose that we also charge them under the following section of the act:

Section 1954 (relating to unlawful welfare fund payments)

How many charges could we file in this case? I could think of no fewer than 15 counts of RICO Act violations...and that is only the tip of a massive iceberg in which we could nail the ACLU for hundreds if not thousands of RICO Act violations...and George Romero, the ACLU President, would be amongst those headed to federal prison where they belong!

11 SEPTEMBER 2001: FIVE YEARS LATER

What I am about to present to you this morning is a serious assessment of the events of this day in 2001...five years ago...as they unfolded in front of me.
About 6.30a I got up and bathed then dressed in preparation for my day at work at a local golf course.
7.00a I ate breakfast thinking only about getting the men's locker room cleaned up, picking up trash round the car park, and getting some cleanup in the pool area.
7.20a I left for work. I got into my black 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse and drove down to 13th Street. Right turn, West 13th, past the Safeway Bakery, Maiden Lane, the ABC12 studios, the all-way stop at Schifferdecker Avenue, the Lozier factory just down that street, KSN16 just down Cleveland Av, on past the golf shop and driving range, and stopped at another all-way stop at Country Club Road. Left turn, Country Club Road, stopped for a school bus, continued to another all-way stop at West 20th.
7.30a I arrived at work. Met with my supervisor, a BIG man named Stan Walton, about 6.2, 370lb, admittedly fat, but he certainly is not lazy. I weighed 185lb and I can barely keep up with him. Half the time I can't even find him! He's busier than hell...and anyone who spent a DAY with him would understand that quickly. Some heavier folks will surprise you with how active they really are. Fat does NOT mean lazy! Stan moved around like a pinball, man. We chatted briefly then I headed to the men's locker room with the vacuum cleaner and some custodial supplies.
Started cleaning the toilets, urinals, and the showers.
About 9.00a I was vacuuming the locker room at Twin Hills Country Club and was getting the last bit of carpet underneath the door leading into the clubhouse restaurant. I opened the door...and a television in the corner opposite the door showed a burning World Trade Centre South Tower.
Word is an aeroplane had flown through the building, a commercial airliner, in what had turned out to be a hijacking with sinister and homicidal tendencies. This airborne homicide bombing had already begun shocking Americans including us.

By 9.30a another hijacked aeroplane had hit the North Tower. We continued watching in shock. I went about my duties as much as possible. Suddenly discussions about the unfolding events in New York were erupting spontaneously, even as official club policy discouraged discussions between employees and members.

Then word came that another airliner had hit the Pentagon, shattering about a fifth of the defence headquarters. We were even more horrified. News came that another aeroplane had been crashed into a cow pasture in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

At about 10.00a we started setting up televisions tuned to each of the three local TV stations...7Strong near Pittsburg, Kansas, in this case the studios are 10mi south of Pittsburg and maybe 30mi from Joplin, and ABC12 and KSN16 as well. The clubhouse kitchen radio was tuned to continuous coverage on ABC News Radio at about 10.20 when I was walking through the kitchen and heard a woman crying angrily that she wanted whatever country would do this to be annihilated.

Then the orders came down from the executive levels to ground all air travel, even using fighter jets to use lethal force as needed, with flights from foreign destinations being diverted to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and other Canadian destinations. Needless to say the transportation grid was thrown into utter chaos...thanks to what turned out to be a terrorist gang called AlQaeda, led by Osama BinLaden.

Initially a gang of terrorists unwilling to accept Israeli law, calling themselves part of an area called "Palestine" whilst totally disgracing Islam AND the Arab peoples, had claimed responsibility.

In the coming days we would learn more about the terrorists who attacked in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. We would learn about 19 Arabic men, 15 from Saudi Arabia alone---this is not a slight against Saudi Arabia, for as much contempt as they have for Israel even the Saudis have clamped down on terrorists, killing many of them in gun battles; that is just the ugly and bitter reality of the situation.But the terrorists---I don't even want to call them Arabs or Muslims, because they truly represent neither---had a deadly and destructive secret that was unfurled upon us in the early morning hours.
And as a result we would seek out the terrorists and their acolytes...and even seek out ways to prevent terrorist activity in future. We have since conducted a war on terror that has successfully liberated more than 52 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq. We have admittedly a lot of collateral damage to address and some 2 500 brave American soldiers lost in Iraq and others lost in Afghanistan, though we have helped rebuild the environment and infrastructure of both countries, but we have had to relearn a lesson past generations have had to learn:

Freedom is not free (1), eternal vigilance is required to maintain freedom (2), and political correctness and partisanism are no good excuses to neglect our national security (3).

It turned out that President Clinton had permitted a lot of terror suspects into the country and had neglected our border security and our national defence...but then again this is a problem that could at elast in part predate his tenure, as well as those of the elder President Bush, President Reagan, President Carter, and darned if even a small element of that doesn't even predate President Ford...and even then this is NOT what this entry is about.
This is NOT about drawing political lines or assigning ideological blame---though there is evidence leaning in a certain direction, not unlike that which may be unfolding as a recent ABC-TV film was attacked for a sequence that President Clinton and his acolytes did not like, and may have gotten censored or dumped, that may have upset the Democrats.
And this is on top of the blame that both parties have assigned each other, further fuelling a political cola war that has become very untenable for most Americans.

I rejoiced at the victories the American military achieved in Kabul, in Baghdad, and even when Libyan president Moamar Gaddafi volunteered his WMD collection to the Coalition of the Willing. I was pleased to find willing partners in that coalition in Britain, Australia, and Poland amongst other countries...and came to appreciate Tony Blair, Leszek Miller, and especially John Howard.

But as I drove away from work on 11 September 2001 at about noon I was left rather stunned as were everyone else, and later that afternoon I was driving through downtown Joplin when I was handed a free special edition of the local newspaper. It was a brief eight-page special edition showing us the horrific attacks including the scenes of the burning World Trade Centre on the front page.And for the next solid week all that the television news talked about was the terrorist attacks, including the realisation that the Pennsylvania crash claimed the aeroplane that had been intended for the White House or the Capitol Building in Washington...the one we now know as United Flight 93, the source of a few recent films as well. It angered me more and more that we would have been attacked like this...As I think about the horrors of that morning, the amazing rescues and amazing people who helped each other out of the building, I have a few more thoughts in mind...

HACKED AND REBUILT: THE FALL AND RISE OF CORNER BAR FORUMS

After AT&T stabbed me in the back for the last time with their grossly overpriced internet services replete with phone services I used only to get onto the 'Net by committing another act of bad faith, fraud, breach of contract, and price gouging, I chose to switch to the internet service offered by my cable company---CableOne. I had dealt with CableOne about 10 years ago when I had cable TV with them for a year and was constantly taping Rush Limbaugh, Ren & Stimpy, Beavis & Butt-Head, The Simpsons, Drew Carey, Jeff Foxworthy, and The Commish...a real mix of quality TV programmes.
I've been with CableOne for about three weeks now and I must say that the quality of internet service works a bit faster than it did with AT&T, not to mention that programmes seem to work faster.
But just a few days after I got cut off by AT&T a forum network site where one of my forums is located got hacked and that brought down the site for several days. When it became too obvious that the hundreds of thousands of messages---of which my forum, RAW IS POLITICS, a hybrid of politics, professional wrestling, business, science, technology, education, health, and sport threads, contained in the neighbourhood of 123 000---were not going to be readily retrieved---the call was made that forum hosts would restart their forums all over. That meant me too. Cornerbarforums is now back up and running, has been for almost four weeks now, with stronger firewalls, and yes we have plenty of room if you want to host a forum there, we ask only that you follow our TOS...and as a network staff member I have found myself helping out members with some of the technical aspects of the format, the Beehive format, which is HTML intensive, but not difficult to use.
And as for RAW IS POLITICS, that forum is back up and running stronger than ever, with more sport folders with special emphasis on American and Canadian football and auto racing, and additional wrestling folders, including those for Total Nonstop Action (TNA) wrestling in addition to several folders for WWE programmes and general information, plus folders for health issues, legal, business, science, technology, other sports, and the major American political parties, to speak nothing of the regional politics from the UK, Latin America, the West Indies, the East Indies, Indochina, East Asia, South Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific including New Zealand, Australia, and Canada. And now the current total as I speak has passed the 9 500 mark and continues to rise, it will break the 10 000 mark and be the first to do so. ENCOURAGING INCREASED PRODUCTION OF BIOFUELS

Without a doubt we need to consider biomass-based fuels as a source of energy. But not everyone agrees on how to do it.
In Australia, Prime Minister John Howard has just rejected the concept of mandatory ethanol placement in fuels, maintaining that the people need to have a choice about their fuels.
I am inclined to agree as the appropriate move should be toward a more positive encouragement in ethanol and biofuel production.
The best way that I can think of is by extending a tax break for the development of such, and even extend a tax break beyond the 100 percent mark for monies spent developing ethanol and other biofuel technologies, both for oil and fuel companies and for automotive manufacturers alike. A 200 percent tax break would not only offset the costs of development of alternative fuels but also help sustain the development of traditional fuels thus reducing the rates of taxation and pricing on fuel. Currently the price of ethanol is also rising but if we establish tax breaks for the development of such we could provide an effective answer to some more reasons for higher fuel prices.
And with the reduction in fuel costs come the reduction of the costs of goods and services across the board. Higher fuel prices leave less money for other essentials in life as well as other commerce.
And let us not stop with the fuel companies and the auto companies either: Let's extend this tax break to farmers, who will more readily be able to afford to maintain their properties and implements and may even be more self-sufficient. Growing maize, hemp, soybeans, and other sources of biofuels would help their bottom line, especially with a tax break for doing so, a 200 to 250 percent tax break on the production costs, no doubt.
Even President John F Kennedy knew the value of tax reform: Though not implemented till after his death it proved to be a major tax cut in its time; Kennedy was a strong proponent of tax reform, a major reason the top marginal tax rate was lowered from 91 percent to 70 percent. His methodology inspired more recent tax policies from Ronald Reagan and George W Bush.
Roll your eyes if you like but right now America are set to run revenues of $274bn higher than expected this year and $243bn higher next year, this even with surging fuel costs, most of you are paying US$3 a gallon or higher. Right now I'm pretty close, with fuel prices running $2,89 a gallon.
Kennedy's tax cut proposal, once implemented, saw federal income tax revenue jump significantly, with the growth accelerating more than 8 percent annually from 1965 to 1969, about quadruple the rate from 1961 to 1964. As a result wealthier households wound up picking up a larger share of the tax burden as their lower income neighbours wound up paying less in taxes.
And then there was the first tax cut from President Reagan. Say what you will about the man but his cuts resulted in more than US$1trillion in increased tax revenues flowing into the US Treasury in a 10 year period. It helped a number of Americans more readily afford new VCRs and computers and even cars, and it helped further the development of advanced cassette and compact disc technologies.
What worked for Presidents Kennedy and Reagan with regard to general tax policy would easily work toward ecologically correct fuel source development.
Now if only we could corral some of the federal spending that has risen to some $22000 per household...But the primary point remains clear: Reduce the tax burden on producers who make biofuels, even eliminate it if needed---the 200 to 250 percent tax break would even fuel greater job development, greater crop production, greater quantities of fuel development, more environmentally friendly fuels with lower prices on all types of fuel, and a cleaner environment...a true win-win situation for all parties involved from the farmer raising maize soybeans and hemp to the distillers and refiners creating ethanol and similar fuels from biomass, even from waste food products, to the oil and fuel companies selling the fuel, to the consumers who fill their Holdens and Peugeots and Buicks and Hondas and Kias and Marutis and Nissans and Fords and Volkswagens and Bedfords with this fuel. Nascar have announced a successful test with unleaded fuels in their cars. Maybe biofuels could be next...if they are not already there.
And what could be so bad about that?

THE REAL REASON YOU ARE PAYING MORE FOR PETROL

Let's face it, we are stuck with high petrol and diesel prices. And we think that there are cut and dried reasons, like it's President Bush's fault, it's the oil companies' fault, it's Halliburton's fault.
But the reality is not so simplistic as those. There are a LOT of factors behind our elevated fuel prices.
Well, of course the WAR is a good reason behind it...as long as there is instability in the Middle East AND we rely heavily on imported oil including that which comes heavily from the Middle East we are going to experience fuel price problems.
But in recent years developments in the global economy, especially in Asia, have fuelled the price rises for petrol.
Take for instance the exploding economies of China and India, each with at least 1,2 BILLION people. With two-and-a-half billion in those economies, and a growing automotive market in both, the oil producing companies are eager to capitalise on those growing economies, in other words, they are sending more and more oil and gas and even coal to the two burgeoning economies. China have experienced economic growth of some 10 percent annually for a number of years whilst India have also experienced strong economic growth under prime minister Manmohan Singh and his predecessor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
And this has fuelled the growth of the Indian automotive industry with the Indian automakers approaching 5 million units in 2004. As Suzuki team with local manufacturer Maruti to produce the Esteem and Mahindra have started moving beyond their early Jeep-inspired line (Mahindra produced Willys and Jeep vehicles for the Indian market from the 1940s to the 1960s) and their miniature single-cylinder-powered Champion microtrucks to produce the more modern SUV Scorpio and even branching out into Europe, Tata have begun branching out to South Africa. Additionally, for several years Mahindra tractors have been sold in the United States.
And Indian automotive sales have proceeded at a strong clip. As more and more Indians buy automobiles and become increasingly mobile, the infrastructure has to be further improved, with a national highway system well under construction. India are also starting to become more of an automotive exporter.
The Chinese automotive industry has also begun to really grow. Major homegrown players include Geely, FAW, Great Wall, Heibao, Xiali, and Yangcheng, but the really big production has now shifted in high gears for foreign automakers including GM, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Honda, all of which are working very closely with Chinese manufacturers. GM are now exporting Cadillacs to China and building larger volumes of Chevrolets and, most interestingly enough, Buicks, for the Chinese market. Volkswagen produce the Lupo and Santana for the Chinese market as well.
Then there are the supply problems, such as the lack of refining capacity in the United States. America have not built a new oil refinery in 30 years. Three zero. That is how long more radicalised environmentalists have managed to gum up the works in America's ability to develop their own oil resources or build oil refineries. Invariably they object to any form of drilling, any form of harvesting, any new refinery construction, placing America into a straitjacket that forces dependency upon foreign oil. And executive orders of the 1990s creating land grabs of large swathes of land in the Western states and arbitrarily establishing national monuments and parks have not helped American energy independence efforts.
Additionally there are high rates of taxation and slim profit margins for the oil companies. An oil company make only 10 cents on $3 a gallon petrol for example. That means that the state and federal excise taxes come heavily into play. Typical federal excise taxes per gallon run 18 cents a gallon and state petrol taxes push the tax amount yet even higher.
And in Britain the fuel taxes are even more acute: In early 2001, when petrol was selling for 84 pence per litre---the equivalent of more than $5 a gallon---retailers made only five pence per litre, a tiny fraction of the 61 pence per litre that went straight to the government.
"Conservation" won't solve the problem, folks: Demanding greater development of ALL forms of energy, traditional and renewable alike, will bring us solutions. We are going to have to put up with a couple of oil wells here and there along our coasts if we are to become energy independent.
But it doesn't stop there.
We could easily establish more renewable sources of energy, solar, windpower, and wave power alike. We need to get behind the effort to place windmill farms along the New England coast...however much Senator Edward M Kennedy, D-MA, may oppose the effort out of concern for his view of the coastline. Aesthetics are easily sorted out; the important factor is resolving the energy supply problem. After all, a wind farm worked in the hills east of the San Francisco Bay Area, why not New England as well?
And then of course there are the biofuels, including even the do-it-yourself ethanol stills that evoke the moonshine stills of the backwoods Appalachian Mountains and Kentucky and Tennessee of the Prohibition era, making fuel from maize and hemp and other plant products.
All possible fuel sources need to be utilised and all efforts need to be undertaken to enable the energy independence, where we can produce our own oil, refine it, build refineries when needed, but also develop biofuels, encouraging the development of such as needed, and even generate energy from other sources, from windpower to solar power to wave power like that which has been in use for as long as 30 years in the UK.
We CAN achieve energy independence...even if we don't ever see $1 a gallon in the United States. Then again, if we implement HALF the methods suggested, maybe we can see LOWER prices..we don't know until we make an effort.

Walmart Fails In Germany---Economy, Retail Markets To Blame

THERE IS NO QUESTION that the mighty economic powerhouse of the retail industry, Bentonville, Arkansas-based Walmart, have been for the most part successful in their 44 years of existence.
What started as a five-and-dime general store in 1950 in that small town, and made its first foray into larger discount stores in 1962 on US71 in nearby Rogers have grown into a multinational corporation, expanding throughout Mexico, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and Canada.
But recently Walmart have hit a couple of landmines in their development as a global retail giant.
In May they pulled out of South Korea's tight cutthroat market; the stores were sold to Shingesae for US$882m, this just after French retailer Carrefour had just left the market. Those stores have now been rebranded as EMarts (Korean language website).
And close on the heels of Walmart's failed efforts in South Korea, they have had to make another retreat: Last month, the major retailer announced their plans to pull out of the market...at a loss of US$1bn.
Evidently they hit a lot of road blocks but they come in three major factors.
SOME are based upon Walmart's unfamiliarity with German shopping habits, like a desire for more privacy and less services. The Germans' primary focus is on the lowest possible price...which has made homegrown retailers Edeka, Metro, Rewe Group, Aldi, and Lidl household names throughout Europe. Interestingly enough the German shoppers were initially afraid that they would have to pay more for American style customer service, like sacking their groceries at the register.
Which brings to mind the next group of reasons behind the development of Walmart's failure in Germany: Let's meet the German grocery giants, most of whom have spread their wings internationally.
MAJOR GROCERY STORE COMPANIES IN GERMANY

EDEKA are the largest German grocer with more than a quarter of the country's shoppers, their equivalent of Safeway or IGA or WinnDixie in the United States, with about 4100 stores ranging from hypermarts to corner markets; they also operate the SPAR chain found in Europe, Africa, Argentina. and Japan.
The name originated from the German phonetic enunciation of the original name, EdK (eh-deh-ka), or Einkaufsgenossenschaft der Kolonialwarenhändler which translates to "Purchasing association of the grocers", and was granted in 1913, 15 years after the company were formed from four cooperatives. Today the company own ADEG Group in Austria, with stores in Russia, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.

Then come the Neckarsulm-based Lidl, whose stores are located mostly in Europe, with plans to expand into Canada in near future. The company were originally formed in the 1930s but did not go into the present-day format of typical German-style grocery stores until 1973, when they copied rival Aldi's format, see below for more information, and now have some 5000 stores. Most Lidl stores are located in northern Europe spanning from France and Ireland and the UK to Scandinavia, with some in Italy and Croatia; in fact Lidl have branched into photo lab and floral operations as well. Lidl even offer DSL internet service to German patrons!
Lidl get their name from retired schoolteacher Ludwig Lidl who along with Josef Schwarz were partners in Südfrüchte Grosshandel Lidl & Co, originally a fruit wholesaler; in 1977 Schwarz bought the rights to the Lidl name for DM1000, when the chain had 30 stores, because Schwarz had rejected the name Schwarz Markt (and understandably so because the name means Black Market in English). Speaking of English...Lidl have become well known in Britain during the past 12 years they have been in that country.

Aldi, whose name comes from Albrecht-Discount---drawing from the surname of the company's founders---are marking their 60th anniversary this year and the Essen-based giant are even more widespread than any of their rivals.
Two interesting things to note about Aldi:
There are not one but TWO Aldi chains, Aldi North and Aldi South.

(RIGHT) Aldi South logo, used mostly in Southern Germany, central Europe, Britain, Ireland, the United States, and Australia.
Aldi North cover northern Germany and western and northern Europe, including Poland, Spain, and Portugal, whilst Aldi South cover southern Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Austria (those last two under the name Hofer), the UK, Ireland, Australia, and much of the eastern and central United States. They even have their own logos for each division.(1)

And some of you who have shopped at an Aldi store in the eastern or Midwestern United States know what I am talking about; I will cover more about the basic concept behind German supermarkets later, in essence, you enter into a long row of pallets of merchandise, mostly groceries, you hit some randomly selected special merchandise, like home electronics, clothing, toys, maybe some ready to assemble furniture, you pass the dairy and deli coolers, then two big aisles stretch to the checkout counters, one alongside juices and baked goods and frozen foods, very minimal staff, you pay for bags, you can take cartons for carrying groceries home without charge.
Aldi pioneered the concept used by most of their competitors including Lidl, Real, and even Edeka. It is one of the main reasons they continue to generate some US$37bn annually.

The Rewe Group are comprised of a number of different businesses specialising in groceries, home improvement, electronics, travel, and discount stores.

Metro AG are composed of SIX companies, Metro Cash and Carry, a self service warehouse, Real, Extra, Media Markt, Saturn, and Kaufhof.
And here is a look at where those Walmarts just sold in Deutschland are going to be rebranded: Real are a relatively strong performer in what has turned out to be a flat economic landscape for Germany and Europe, obtaining a net profit of 9,9bn (about US$12,7bn) in the year 2005 with 43090 coworkers (annual average on full time base) in three countries. Another chain held by Metro is Extra which have a bit more of an upscale feel. Then there is MediaMarkt, which are an electronics store chain, as are Saturn, and then the department store chain Kaufhof, rounding out the Metro stable of companies...all furthering the German conglomerate's credentials in their takeover of Walmart Deutschland. Anticipate that those stores will perform much better under Metro management and under the Real brand name.
THE ALDI CONCEPT: THE TYPICAL GERMAN GROCERY STORE
Aldi started a unique concept of grocery stores that focuses on simplicity, with a relatively limited selection of mostly store-branded products inside a smaller store, minimal staffing, no public telephones, and pallets containing cases of products instead of traditional shelves.
Typically customers enter through one door, to a long, wide, continuous aisle, that carries the customers toward the back of the store, past a long aisle of dry goods and sometimes beer and wine, then to a small group of general merchandise products near the back of the store, past a small bank of freezers, then past a back wall with dairy and deli coolers, a few tables of general merchandise, then either up one or two central aisles loaded with tinned goods, health and beauty products, pet care products, dry pasta, soft drinks, fruit juices, or along a side wall with baked goods, energy drinks, more juices and pop, and then a bank of doors opening to upright freezers.
When you reach the checkouts, anticipate having to queue up as it is common practise in an Aldi or Lidl or Edeka or Real to wait in lines given their minimal staffing policies and only a few registers. Also plan to pay for shopping bags, or you can bypass that by taking a carton or two with you to carry home groceries. Many Germans carry their own reusable shopping bags out of concern for the environment.
Also, you may have to insert a coin in order to use a shopping cart, they are connected to other carts by a short chain that cannot be manipulated to connect to the cart's own chain latch, and you get that money back when you connect the chain to the next cart.
THE BIGGER PICTURE: THE EUROPEAN ECONOMY
The current success story of Metro AG, which just reported a profit of a third of a billion American dollars, is a rarity in a flagging European economy, affecting European nations which have sustained high unemployment rates as of late and are only now corralling those rates.
The European economy has been sustaining a lot of turmoil for several years, and there are a lot of underlying factors, such as their more socialised government programmes, being overly generous with benefits and even holidays, with labour laws mandating even shorter work weeks forcing a lower level of productivity in many western European countries. And resistance to reforms are fairly strong: French protestors drove president Jacques Chirac to scrap a labour reform law that he had just signed.
Other American companies are also affected by the flagging European economy, like Ford which may consider selling its money-losing Jaguar division and General Motors which have had to reduce their labour force at their Opel and Vauxhall plants in Europe; they also sell Chevrolet products including the subcompact Spark and the compact Lacetti and Cadillac products in the continent.
But reforms to the European economic machine may have to come from newcomer European Union members with more libertarian policies on labour, like Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as the charter member United Kingdom, who continue to hold to the pound which remains strong. But then again the euro is also very strong...which some say may be hurting the continental currency now used in a dozen countries.
The Eurozone will remain strong as long as common sense is used in order to further the expansion of the currency. One wrong move and the currency could go from US$1,27 this morning to 85 cents in just three years.
But economic policies need to start favouring the companies more in order to further develop the job base and the economic base as well. If lower income taxes and greater economic incentives were to be implemented on a greater scale Europe could become an economic supercommunity in its own right.
BACK TO WALMART for a moment: They are concentrating on their stronger markets in China and Latin America as well as the US and Canada, with some emphasis in flat operations in Britain, where they operate Asda, and Japan, where they operate the Seiyu chain.
I would say, Walmart are not dead, they are just resting, let them. Even God rested. They will make a stronger comeback in time, maybe even to Germany, wiser and stronger.

A Little Insight Into My Job...Through Someone Else's Eyes

Tales Of An RGIS Auditor could be a tale about my time on the job. Thankfully they are not, though my own job experiences have been a little bit of those, but nothing like the ones on that blog, and I am grateful as an employee for that company (click here) that I have had virtually NONE of the mishaps.
All the more reason I have no complaints. There is no time for them. I just get up, go to work, count inventory, get the job done, and be done with it.
No problem.
It's a bit of an unusual job I admit but we get the job done, and I guess I have learnt a lot about the job and the industry. Basically we deal with a wide range of stores from groceries to discount stores to department stores.
Well, enough about my end of this. Let's leave you to be the judge. And BTW I am not afraid to upset applecarts at the job, which I value very much, I just don't see the point in messing around with talking about the job in this venue unless something really big comes up.

The Tragedy Of Africville: Halifax' Shame

I don't have a problem with progress. I always like to see new bridges built when they are needed.
But sometimes they negatively affect certain communities.
Take the former Halifax neighbourhood of Africville for example. The Nova Scotia community basically forced the inhabitants off their land in 1967 to build a bridge.
And what is tragic about that is this historically Black community, dating back to 1790, was purposefully targeted because of its apparently backward conditions.
My understanding is many Canadian communities were without modern amenities later than most American communities were. Why is it that instead of having to remember the community at a local park near the bridge the African-Canadians of that community could have simply had their community preserved as much as possible whilst modernising the neighbourhood? It's no wonder Nova Scotia MLA Percy Paris, a Black New Democrat, condemned the past treatment and demanded an official apology.
Methinks that the Nova Scotia premier has an obligation to seriously consider how people in the Black, and for that matter the First Nations communities as well, were treated. And though there is nothing that can be done to reverse the ill treatment including the destruction of Africville, there is always a lot we can learn from the bad moves of the past and learn to respect other cultures where necessary, yet still uphold the culture of a nation where required as well.
And Canada can learn a lot from the way Africville was treated.

Maxthon: The Way I Surf The World---And You Should Too

Earlier this afternoon I stumbled upon this awesome browser developed in Asia.

It was quite by accident, as I was looking for WindowShades, a popup blocker, but kept finding a 404 Not found message.

However I found something even better. It was a new browser that wowed me from the moment I started using it. And it outperformed every other browser I had ever used.

I have used Internet Explorer, the SBC/AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet browser, and even Mozilla Firefox, and had recently gotten the last of those, and was really enjoying Firefox.

But then along came Maxthon.

And let me tell you about Maxthon.

Maxthon is a very lightweight browser with heavyweight performance. It takes up significantly smaller file space on your disk than any other browser yet you would be amazed at how many tabs you can use with multitab browsing. Right now I am working with six tabs open, and I am used to working with a number of tabs and sometimes windows open.

Maxthon also has an awesome popup blocker and a number of addons such as RSS feed finders, and even go as far as to incorporate links to Microsoft sites and FlashSave...

And you won't believe the variety of skins available for Maxthon browsers. They are mindblowing in nature.

Political Cola War Leaves A Foul Taste In Our Mouths

HEY, FRIEND, DO YOU EVER GET TIRED of the state of politics, being just another untenable mire, where a pro wrestling match is more dignified than the state of political discourse today?
We have watched it deteriorate to the point where the two major parties, the Democrats and the Republicans, are basically straitjacketing us into having to vote for the lesser of two evils. Remember the cola wars of the 1980s? Actually, they are still going on today. And sadly the state of politics has descended to just that. Just as Diet Coke battles Diet Pepsi, Diet Bush battles Diet Dean. Diet Schwarzenegger battles Diet Angelides. Diet Frist battles Diet Reid. Diet Hastert battles Diet Pelosi. Diet Cheney battles Diet Gore.
And the whole bloody thing has left a bad taste in our mouths.
The Democrats and others susceptible to more liberal viewpoints or maybe illiberal is a better word, including antiwar activists and the controlled American media, the likes of CNN, New York Times, and Newsweek magazine, have become bogged down in irrational partisan hatred which we have seen erupt from the likes of Howard Dean, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Kerry, and John Murtha, and have maligned the President and his administration some of it necessary, other parts unnecessary, however much freedom they have to do so, but sometimes there comes a time when enough is enough and folks need to settle down.
And they have also resorted to using trial lawyers and civil rights organisations to sue against the things they don't agree with, from Bush administration policies they don't like to immigration reforms to education reforms.
But the Republicans are not off the hook either: They have proven highly ineffective and have worked to accelerate government spending faster than the Clinton administration EVER did, even adding a new (and ineffective) Cabinet level department. What we needed instead was a DIVISION of Homeland Security---under the authority of the State Department. What we have instead...is both parties accelerating spending at a dangerous rate, creating more bureaucracy and appeasing illegal aliens who jumped our borders to get here for fear of being sued by trial lawyers some of who are part of a group which just changed their name in order to try to gain more respect when what they need is a total reformation of how they conduct themselves in first place.
And the Republicans have ramped up spending, some of it for justifiable reasons, like rebuilding a defence neglected by the Clinton Administration, with other elements unneeded, like increased spending for social services for illegal aliens even with vigourous public sentiment opposed to such moves. Additionally they have enacted at least three consecutive years of massive spending increases that we should ALL be concerned about.
Add to that the debacles behind Portgate---in which only public outcry prevented a sale of American ports facilities to the United Arab Emirates-government owned Dubai Ports World---which Republicans openly supported, President Bush included---then add in the failure to fully establish a coherent energy policy---and you realise we have a massive mess on our hands.
So why is it that we have only Diet Bush and Diet Dean to pick from? Where the hell is our SevenUp, our Dr Pepper, our A&W Root Beer, our Royal Crown Cola? We may yet have to find our own solution if the politicians can't get out of this political cola war and start working together. It may be time to start looking to another party on our own, the Libertarians, the Greens, the US Taxpayers Party, the Constitution Party, the Socialists, the Peace and Freedom Party...
That's why I respect folks like my state's junior senator, Jim Talent, R-MO, who has worked to cross party lines for the sake of getting the job done. He's facing vicious attacks from Claire McCaskill on the DNC side as she challenges him for his seat. Looks to me like she's bound to become a two-time loser, having lost to Matt Blunt in the gubernatorial race in '04. That's also why I respect Roy Blunt, Matt's father, and also the House Majority Whip, my Congressman, in the Seventh District, because he has worked to get more cohesion and more sensible policies implemented, not to mention he has helped get more road construction money to Missouri which had experienced deteriorating road conditions. If you had driven down the I-44 in Missouri from St Louis to Joplin or the I-70 from St Louis to Kansas City or US71 from the Arkansas line to the Iowa line in the early 2000s you would understand, as the rough condition of the roads would have you bouncing so much you'd think your car had hydraulics. US54, MO5, US60, MO7, MO17, US65, US63, the whole lot...ALL of them suffering. But road monies started pouring in even when Bob Holden was still governor, and that money has been poured into rebuilding existing routes and even building new routes, including southwestern Missouri where I live, and where expansive growth has spread from Springfield, from Branson, from Joplin, from northwestern Arkansas, which has de facto claimed McDonald County at the very southwest corner in its metropolitan area. (Little do most folks know is Mac County almost became part of Arkansas for real: Jefferson City snubbed McDonald County on a state map in the early 1960s and Mac County almost seceded from Missouri to join Arkansas.)
That is also why I respect Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman, a true Democrat with a very rational and mature viewpoint which the likes of Jack Kennedy and even Lyndon Johnson exhibited. He has worked hard with the administrations of BOTH Bushes even though he has voted against George W Bush 90 percent of the time, yet he is being attacked by people in his own party simply for his friendship with talk radio host Sean Hannity and for supporting the current War on Terror. Lieberman may wind up a lame duck Senator simply for his beliefs, but they are principled beliefs which his party the Democrats have abandoned for no good reason. Lieberman is an old school liberal, with a respect for those whom he disagrees with, yet George Soros amongst those pumping money into Ned Lamont's campaign to unseat Lieberman in the primary shows irrational vitriol toward the GOP and toward the President.
Let us remember the last time George Soros pumped money into a Democrat campaign...which was in an effort to basically buy John Kerry the White House. Bush still won by 3 percent of the vote...and appears to have gone weak as have the GOP.

WHAT THE GOP MUST DO TO IMPROVE THEIR STANDING WITH THE ELECTORATE

1) The GOP must adopt a back-to-basics approach. This may mean returning to the values that put them back into control of the House and the Senate in 1994 after an eight year run as the Senate minority and that 40 year run as the House minority. Time to bring back the Contract With America, maybe?
2) Cut spending in unnecesary areas. The flat tax is looking more attractive every day. Talk radio host Neal Boortz has just written a successful book about that measure.
I would suggest a 7 percent flat tax, with the following measures:
A) Standard deductions must be raised
1) $17.500 for single taxpayers
2) $42.500 for married filing jointly
3) $7.500 for EACH of the following
a) Children
b) College age children living at home
c) Differently abled
1) Which require special healthcare needs
2) And even special transport needs
d) Old age pensioners
B) Corporate taxes need to be lowered, maybe to as low as 7 percent, though 11 percent would be tolerable
1) With a libertarian array of tax breaks
a) For job development
1) Establishing manufacturing facilities in the USA
2) Relocating jobs into the United States from outside the USA
b) For taking care of employees' primary and secondary benefits
1) Like childcare
2) And healthcare programmes
3) And even dental care programmes
2) Make it easier to do business in the United States
a) Relax regulations that hamstring business development
b) Make it easier to start one's own business
c) Make it easier for small businesses to keep pace with larger businesses
d) Establish tax credits to modernise equipment
e) Establish tax credits for taking advantage of alternative energies
1) Tax credits for creating biofuels
2) Tax credits for building equipment and vehicles capable of running on biofuels
3) Tax credits for using a certain percentage of vehicles capable of running on biofuels
3) Close unnecesary departments at the cabinet level and relegate those duties to lower entities or even the private sector.
a) Close the Department of Education.
1) Let the local communities and the states handle this capacity.
2) Let the private sector handle this capacity.
b) Close the Department of Health and Human Services.
1) Let the local and state agencies handle this capacity.
2) Let the private sector handle this capacity.
3) Make it easier for doctors to operate without an HMO.
4) Let the states handle food stamps and food distribution.
c) Close the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
1) Let local communities handle this capacity.
2) Let the private sector handle this too.
d) Close the Department of the Interior.
1) But leave the Parks Service and Fish & Game Office as stand-alone agencies. THEY are effective.
2) However the rest of the Department can be handled at the State level.
e) Close the Department of Energy.
1) We can handle this far better in the private sector.
2) What innovations have the DoE contributed to energy development lately?
f) Close the Department of Commerce.
1) We can let the private sector handle this one.
2) Anytime a government agency is developed for the sake of managing the business climate we run the risk of a managed economy like that which is in place in China or Viet Nam.
g) Fold the Department of Homeland Security into the State Department.
1) Homeland Security have been mismanaged from day one. Some oversight from an appropriate agency will benefit it as a Division of Homeland Security.
2) Practically all functions in the department work better as State Department functions.
h) Fold the Veterans Affairs Department into the Defence Department.
1) After all, where else would you expect such affairs to be handled best?
2) Fewer departments means less overhead.
i) A reduced workload on the part of the central government will leave a myriad of benefits.
1) Americans will experience a lower tax burden.
2) Americans will see a more efficient government.
3) With fewer layers of bureaucracy more Americans will see more money for investment and more money for economic stimulation.
4) Continue working toward laws that safeguard individual freedoms.
a) Work to protect gun ownership rights
1) Work to repeal gun bans of all kinds
2) Work toward implementing a concealed carry law in every state and even at the federal level like those in states like Vermont or Alaska
3) Work toward allowing concealed carry even inside certain locations
A) Like schools
1) To deter criminal conduct
2) To deter violent assaults
B) Courthouses
1) So the common man can work to safeguard lives as necessary including
a) Judges
b) Crime victims
c) Witnesses
d) Prosecutors
e) Bailiffs
f) Law enforcement
2) So the common man can help work to prevent additional crime as necessary
C) Banks
1) To prevent bank robberies
2) To help safeguard armoured transporters
3) To prevent violent assault
D) Other businesses
1) To prevent armed robberies
2) To prevent violent assaults
b) Work toward criminalising the abuse of eminent domain
1) Ensure that the recent executive order from President Bush mandating limitation on the use of eminent domain is a framework for further reforms of the practise
2) Forbid, in ALL states, the use of eminent domain
A) For transfer of land to another private entity, ESPECIALLY for the sake of satisfying the government's idealistic bottom line
B) For the establishment of "open space" or ANY OTHER limited use capacity not designed for greater benefit of the ENTIRE community
C) If a landowner says no to a prospective project and does not want to move
c) Work toward preserving traditional freedoms
1) Work to mandate that ALL ideologies are respected in education
2) Work to mandate that ALL ideologies are taught with equal measure
3) Work to mandate reduced regulations in our lives for the sake of preserving freedom for future generations

The Democrats need a bit more work of their own but there are simple solutions for them as well.

WHAT THE DNC MUST DO TO IMPROVE THEIR STANDING WITH THE ELECTORATE

1) CAN THE IRRATIONAL PARTISAN HATRED---NOW.
a) STOP ATTACKING THE PRESIDENT FOR THE SAKE OF ATTACKING HIM.
1) Start learning how to compose more critical and structured arguments.
2) Start rooting those arguments in fact-based information, instead of partisan disinformation.
b) STOP ATTACKING THE REPUBLICANS FOR THE SAKE OF ATTACKING THEM.
1) Make an effort to work with Republicans.
2) Have a truly open mind toward their ideas and find a rational argument against them.
3) Hold a TRUE dialogue with Republicans. The Democrats might even find some of their ideas worth supporting, and they will probably consider some of their ideas too.
2) Start adopting a more coherent platform.
a) And start adopting one that is more freedom-oriented.
b) Show consistency on ALL of the Constitutional amendments.
c) Stop relying on the trial lawyers to handle lawsuits when elections don't go their way.
1) Simply learn to accept defeat if they lose elections and move on.
2) Don't hold the democratic process hostage for the sake of pushing their agenda.
d) Stop relying on activist judges who inspire inflammatory opinions from the majority of the populace.
3) Make an effort to work with those who oppose their POV.
a) Work to get along with their opponents. They might be surprised at the positive results.
b) Don't force their ideology upon captive audiences like schoolchildren.
1) They should present a truly unbiased view of history.
2) Don't politicise EVERY subject in school college or university.
3) Don't force obviously very young children into sex education programmes.
a) This means no pushing primary school children into graphic depictions or descriptions of sexual activity.
b) No promoting books about sexuality upon primary school children. Let the parents handle this capacity.
c) Respect the wishes of parents who decide they do not want their children in such programmes. Don't force children to attend if their parents don't want them in those programmes.
4) Don't teach them "new math" or "new English" or "ebonics". Teach them the subjects the way they were meant to be taught.
c) Stop attacking religious expression in public.
1) Stop suing to prevent the display of crosses and Magendavids (Stars of David) on War Memorials.
2) Stop suppressing the free exercise of religion in public, this includes Christianity, Wicca, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism.
3) Remove all objections to school prayer.
4) Stop suing to remove crosses and fish from city seals.

With those suggestions in place for both parties maybe we can put a stop to this political cola war that has left a foul taste in all of our mouths.
A very foul taste at that.
And one which we still need something to wash out of our mouths. SevenUp anyone? Dr Pepper, A&W, how about some iced tea?
Or even a capful of mouthwash---maybe even the medicinal Listerine?

INTERSTATE 30: THE SIXTH INTERSTATE THE DOT SHOULD BUILD

When a 2-digit east/west interstate route ends in a zero it implies a major route designed to go cross-country.
That cannot be said to be the case with Interstate 30 which connects Dallas to Little Rock, about 400mi in length in total. And even so some of that route is misaligned, specifically the Arkansas route east of Texarkana.
This is why the route should be extended and realigned in both directions. Some folks think that extending the I-30 northeast, and thus north of the I-30, makes sense.
But the reason that route is totally warped is it does not adequately connect enough areas let alone along a heavily used corridor.
And this is where the US82 corridor from Little Rock to Birmingham comes in.
In the first graphic to the left, just below, we see a better corridor that serves more communities and more people.

In the centre we can see the westward extension through Texas and the Rockies, including a branch off the current I-30 near Greenville to the northeast of Dallas and thus the route skirts the DFW area then connects to Wichita Falls, Lubbock, Clovis, Socorro, Show Low, and Prescott before connecting to the I-40 near Kingman. After following the I-40 to Barstow the I-15 carries the I-30 to Victorville (right panel) and then skirts the Angeles Crest area north of Los Angeles to cross the I-9 (coming later) (current CA14) and then connect to the I-5 at Castaic at the current CA126 which would then become the I-30 to Ventura.
Which would then give the sprawling populace of Ventura and Oxnard an interstate route and the prospect for a couple of 3dis not to mention interstate commerce to connect straight to the southeast.
Speaking of which, the I-30 need not stop in Birmingham when the route could continue further east to Atlanta and maybe even Athens in Georgia. An extended I-24 southeast of Chattanooga could connect to Augusta as well.
Such a rerouting would easily improve connectivity and transit for the Sunbelt and even continue to bolster agriculture and commerce...as well as help the military in the event they need to send more troops for possible missions along the Mexican border. In addition, it would provide for an extension of the I-57 from Sikeston south along the US49 corridor southwest through Arkanss to the capital, Little Rock. I'll pick up on that in my next installment in this series.

The Case FOR Rearming Japan

I imagine that a lot of folks are wondering just how tense the situation with North Korea is. It is however becoming increasingly evident that the tension could not be cut with a laser beam the width of an old Buick.
There is no question that the South Koreans are on edge; they even fear that Japan have ratcheted tensions in the matter with THEIR grave concerns. THIS from a country that is now working on cruise missile technology, perhaps as a result of their OWN experiences since the Korean Conflict of the early 1950s.
Considering that last week's failed launch of a long-range Taepodong 2 missile landed in the Sea of Japan, it is clearly evident that Japan have EVERY reason to worry about a North Korean missile strike, even if America were the intended target.
And America are not the only folks concerned about the Taepodong's impact: A North Korean missile strike could just as readily hit western Canada. As it stands the failed Taepodong missile could have easily hit any of the following communities on central Honshu island, where the bulk of Japan's population are concentrated:
Kanazawa, Fukui, Otsu, Maebashi, Gifu, Kobe, Tottori, Matsue, Niigata, Utsunomiya, Fukushima, Nagano (site of the 1998 Winter Olympics), or even Kyoto (site of the failed 1997 international environmental arrangement). And to top that all off both Kyoto and Kobe are major industrial and business centres, each every bit nearly as important as Tokyo, even if not as large in population.
We must also remember that the Japanese are more tightly concentrated than Americans or Canadians are. Picture a country with the landspace of California or Manitoba, but with about quadruple the populace of California or 120 times that of Manitoba, and then subtract areas used for national parks, national forests, and of course sacred Buddhist and Shinto sites.
Then you take out land used for agriculture and you begin to see how tightly compacted the Japanese truly are, when houses are about half the size of American houses if not smaller, and you also begin to further understand how little land they have for industrial production, such that in many cases they have had to send much of their production to foreign countries, most notably the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. It has even gotten to the point where the Japanese now produce MORE cars OVERSEAS than they do in Japan.
As much as some folks are inclined to fear a rearmed Japan---memories of Hirohito's brutal empire of the 1930s and 1940s still haunt a number of east Asians, most notably in China and Korea, even to the point where they STILL rake current prime minister Junichiro Koizumi and even some Japanese parliament members for visiting a war shrine.
I have reason to believe that the Japanese have learned a lot of lessons from their imperial past and that the Japanese government of today is definitely NOT the same imperial government of 65 and 70 years ago that aligned themselves with the Nazis of Adolf Hitler, and that reason is more than enough to warrant some level of defencive armament.
And whilst I abhor the idea that we should embrace war I think that in rare instances it may be necessary, however tough a solution it is to reach, and I think if such war is necessary, God forbid, but if it comes down to having to go to war with the Pyongyang regime, then it is imperative that we support the effort to eliminate the regime of Kim Jong Il and bring down a dictator who has left his people so grossly destitute that they are forced to subsist on food aid---some of which comes from neighbour South Korea which have now suspended food aid to the North, and not without good reason either. It has gotten to the point where President Bush---already under fire for the current War On Terror in Afghanistan and Iraq---is now taking direct aim at North Korea by demanding a united front against the Il regime, even urging cooperation from Russia and China in efforts that even involved the six-way talks which Il refuses to attend to anymore. As it stands, neither of the other five nations involved in those talks wanted North Korea to fire any of those seven rockets.
Some will question what they see as the United States' supposed need to disarm other countries. I think that there is no doubt that those who have TRULY abused power have no business with such powerful weapons. America have a reputation for acquiring a lot of power but abusing it relatively little in comparison to that which other countries have achieved. If anything America have a track record of liberation---the Philippines in 1944, Europe in 1945, Grenada in 1983, Kuwait in 1991, Afghanistan in 2002, Iraq in 2003, and that is just a short list. It is that SAME America that for better or for worse gives a lot of freedom---A LOT OF FREEDOM---and in today's terms far more than what would have been permitted even 50 years ago---to criticise the United States government's policies, wartime policies included.
If it takes that same United States to rearm Japan, so be it: Japan are clearly at reasonable enough risk that some level of rearmament is apporpriate, especially given the recent landing of the Taepodong missile off the shore of Japan on America's Independence Day. Therefore it may be time to arm Japan once again.

For once I am pleased to talk about something happening in two political hotbeds, East Asia and Africa.

If you have been following the news about Zimbabwe lately then you will know that the failed governmental policies of that country's dictator Robert Mugabe, who has oppressed his country's hitherto successful White farmers by stealing their land and giving it to ignorant hacks within his political party, the seemingly eternally ruling ZanuPF.

He has also attacked the poor living within urban areas especially in the area of the capital Harare, even destroying the homes of thousands upon thousands of poor Zimbabweans in the name of "cleaning up the waste".

And to top it all off his country suffer under a 1200 percent inflation rate.

And all that BEFORE we even reach his regime's laundry list of human rights violations.

But an unlikely goodwill gesture has drawn the attention of the international media: Some of that country's children are about to receive some 200 000 pieces of candy thanks to Taiwanese schoolboy Lin HungChun, a sixth-grader at the Ping Ho Primary School in the central community of Changhwa.

It is stunning to be forthright that an 11-or-12-year-old boy could have so much concern for starving Africans that he wanted to gather such a massive number of chocolates. He got the idea for this plan after seeing photos of such thin children.

And though many millions of African children need more substantial food aid than chocolates and other candies, certainly this is the case in Zimbabwe, Lin's gesture is beyond welcome.

As we become more self-absorbed in ourselves and in our lives, as we fret over making bill payments, sweating the mobile phone bill here, the car insurance there, internet service this, electric bill that, natural gas bill here, $3 a gallon petrol there, Lin just brought a sense of reality into our overbuilt sense of reality: He is telling us, Think about those who don't have any of those things.

It is maddening to think that an 11-year-old, 12-year-old boy in central Free China, in the heart of Taiwan, Republic Of China, the dominion of the TRUE government of the Chinese people, should have to remind us of, as in the words of commentator Cal Thomas, the things that matter most.

And this is clearly one of those things: Chung ChingFang has EVERY reason to be proud of her son Lin. After all, he DID undertake an effort to help poor schoolmates who could not afford to buy lunch. That was the start of a long road that Lin plans to follow to become a humanitarian.

He could well wind up the Larry Jones of East Asia. Wonder what the Feed The Children cofounder would say to this. I bet he jumps in with some food aid for Zimbabwe. Problem is we have a risk that Mugabe's ZanuPF party hacks might hijack such aid given freely in good faith by the people of Taiwan, the USA, Canada, or any other country.

If the world media do not not Lin HungChun as their young hero of the day it's a damn shame.

More About The Death Of AbuMusab AlZarqawi...Getting There But Still Not Done

Chances are you probably woke up Thursday (08/06/2006) morning or early afternoon, or even caught late night/early morning news reports about the death of AlQaeda's leader in Iraq, AbuMusab AlZarqawi.
I was personally overjoyed to hear the news of the US Special Ops killing off this worthless dreck underneath massive bombs.
I was cheering, yelling HELL YEAH! as I heard the news break on Coast To Coast AM and the BBC World Service, and then on the MSNBC website, the American ABC News website, and the AlJazeera and BBC websites as well.
I think simply, This is a great day, a great day for the War on Terror, a great day for the War in Iraq, a great day for the nascent Iraqi government, a great day for the Bush Administration, a great day for America, a great day for the American military, a great day for the Coalition, and a great day for liberty.
But we are not done yet.
Of course we have been unable to nail the head of AlQaeda, Osama BinLaden, for he is exceptionally crafty and able to hid himself from our radar.
But then again America and the Coalition need to use their technological advantages.
See why I say the job is not yet done?
We can still win this war on terror more effectively. What we need to do is cordon off any hotspots, give the residents 36 hours to exit those areas, then carpet bomb the whole area. We did that in Germany during WWII and it worked well to break the Nazi regime and drive Hitler and his tramp Eva Braun underground to kill themselves. Even Saddam Hussein was hiding in a concrete bunker himself when we found his ass!
We have unmanned drones and heatseeking missiles which we need to use more, instead of the focus on the ground war which we have had for some time. The ground war stopped working some time ago, folks.
And as for that banner marked, Mission Accomplished, on that aircraft carrier in '03, that banner was absolutely right and we deserve to have that banner displayed proudly!
America have earned that distinction on several fronts in Iraq: They have earned it for toppling Saddam Husayn AlTikriti from power, they have earned it for helping establish a democratically elected representative republic, they have earned it for helping establish an open capitalist society that is seeing rising wages, use of computers and mobile phones, and rising purchases of consumer goods ranging from candy to cars...and further bolstered by the launch of a new microfinance programme designed to help small Iraqi businesses develop.
And now they have earned it for the annihiliation of one of the worst terrorist masterminds in history, AbuMusab AlZarqawi.
Our troops need to stand proud and never give up...not even if some criminal terrorist-appeasing Communist traitor lies in the media about American troops innocently doing their job killing terrorists on the streets.
This is the moment where America had DAMN WELL BETTER start demanding that our administration stand by our troops NO MATTER WHAT. And that any leftist liars from the media or the Democrat party who insist upon lying about our military and inventing false charges about so-called "atrocities" when all American troops are doing is their duty should be deported to someplace more in line with their fringe minority neoliberal, neosocialist, neocommunist, anti-American ideology. Cuba or China might better suit the Cindy Sheehans, Michael Moores, Harry Belafontes, Missy Beatties, Madonna Wannabes, and John Murthas illegally defaming our wartime leadership.
This is a proud day for the American military...and for America in general. But it is also a great day for liberty, for freedom, for democracy, for Iraq, for the Iraqi people, and for the effort to completely eliminate terrorism.
And this is another reminder we MUST stay in this fight UNTIL THE JOB IS FINISHED AND THE WAR IS WON!

SPEED LIMIT 80? WHY NOT? WHY A SPEED LIMIT AT ALL?

Yes, you read that sign right: About 500 miles of rural Texas interstate are getting signs like these in the coming days after the State approved a higher speed limit.

And frankly, I have NO problem with that whatsoever.

If the roads are built well enough to withstand such high speed traffic on a regular basis (1), if people consistently drive speeds that support such a move (2), and most folks tend to handle themselves competently even with higher speeds (3), I cannot see why the roads would not be able to support that type of speed.

My real problem is in-town drivers who can barely putt-putt around town at 25 to 35 miles an hour. Those are the people that make small town traffic look more and more congested. Angelenos who think they have traffic problems may want to drive Range Line Road in Joplin or Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City. Bostonians who remember the old Central Artery will take a back seat to Angelenos---who will in turn take a back seat to Joplin and Jefferson City and Branson with regard to traffic problems.

Last Monday the State of Missouri launched a new Route 249 dual carriageway from Seventh Street to the I-44; the pavement on the old carriageway will have to be remarked and the new carriageway marked.

And now I wonder about the speed limits of some of the other highways round the nation, significant stretches of many Interstates and some US highways could easily stand even higher speed limits, or even go without speed limits altogether.

What if every freeway of 10 or more miles in length had its speed limits taken off? If people knew they could drive as fast as they wanted, maybe that could resolve A LOT of congestion issues.

The same reasoning could apply for all tollways, all divided highways of four or more lanes more than 20 miles in length, and all undivided highways of four or more lanes more than 30 miles in length.

And then we would have to maintain our vehicles properly!

Which is all that it really comes down to: Most cars can handle higher speeds IF they are properly maintained with regular service. It ia a good idea to get service intervals of some sort at every 3 000 miles (4 800-5 000km) and more comprehensive intervals annually, or every 12 000mi (20 000km) and again at every 30 000mi (48 000km) interval. This is especially important for high mileage cars like mine. I had a comprehensive maintenance regimen performed when my car hit 90 000 miles.

But with regard to high speed accidents, they may well be more disastrous, but they are fairly uncommon. Cars are getting safer and safer in their construction and more and more state road agencies are putting a higher priority on road maintenance.

I can see other major Texas highways and even those in other states one day foregoing speed limits altogether...if the roads are well maintained that such speeds would be supported.

And such routes SHOULD be signposted like something this:

This means that such ultra-high-speed highways would advise motorists that if their car becomes disabled, or if the motorists happen to be differently abled, they would have to exercise extreme caution. Extremely high speeds CAN be handled by anyone...if they learn how to handle them first.

And drivers education must be improved: Mandatory full year drivers ed courses should start in the eighth grade with mandatory drivers training in the ninth grade; though we WOULD be turning 15-year-olds loose with full drivers licences, they would have two full years of experience including one year of driving under their belts. Intense and thorough education is the key. Then the rest is up to their parents to teach them about personal responsibility behind the wheel.

Which is what it takes to handle such high speeds.

Even if it's only 65, 70, 75, or even 80 miles an hour.

Triple Shot: Jimi Neglected, MNM Implodes, Oz Rejects Gay Marriage

After having visited the Leon Hendrix Mysterience here on Myspace and listened to several of their tracks, I read a story on the weblog over there about how the City of Seattle had badly neglected their most famous native son, born James Marshall Hendrix in 1942, who would go on to enjoy fame as perhaps the greatest rock guitarist ever.
From 1980 when the city named a rock at the local zoo for Jimi Hendrix, a number of citizens, White and Black alike, expressed their own disgust at the disrespect for this great rock icon.
Why only a rock? Why not a street? Maybe a street in the neighbourhood where Jimi and Leon grew up would have been better named for him. Maybe their neighbourhood school would have been suited for his name. Or how about a major street, a highway, even a freeway?
Why not rename Interstate 5, Interstate 90, or even Interstate 405 for Jimi Hendrix? Surely the man known for hits like Purple haze, The wind cries Mary, Fire, Crosstown traffic, Third stone from the sun, and Who knows. Jimi has been credited with launching much of the hard rock and even R&B we hear today.
Hey, how about resurrecting US99 and renaming that the Jimi Hendrix Memorial Highway? Or at the least, a motorway junction, maybe the I-5/I-90 junction? Maybe the Alaskan Way Viaduct is worthy of Jimi Hendrix' name.
Maybe a ballpark would help...Why so much emphasis on naming ballparks for companies? Why not Jimi Hendrix Stadium? Jimi DID serve in Airborne---why not a National Guard Armoury building, or a street in front of the same?
The plain and simple is a man of Jimi's talent which defies description in magnitude clearly deserves so much more of a memorial. And it is not just rock fans who would benefit: The city of Seattle would further benefit from increased tourism from those who would want to see a major music icon honoured in proper fashion. Even if they had to do it at 60mi/h on a potential Jimi Hendrix Memorial Freeway!
IN WRESTLING NEWS: Yesterday night in Phoenix at the WWE pay per view event Judgment Day the three-time Tag Team Champions MNM basically collapsed on themselves.
Starting in a miscue during their match against the new tag team champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick in which Joey Mercury knocked his partner Johnny Nitro down, the always-fiery and always-snobbish Melina Perez, infamous for her splits on the apron in their entrance, erupted in a fury and screamed at Joey, then slapped him; Joey then grabbed her wrist, causing Johnny, who had been dating Melina as of late, to erupt, pounding Joey mercilessly whilst Melina kicked referee Jim Korderas in the groin. SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long had to break the whole matter up, then Melina went on to lose a WWE Divas Match against newfound rival Jillian Hall, who defeated her by rolling her up despite Melina's efforts to grab the rope; Melina protested by slapping Long in the face, and Johnny blew up in Long's face as well.
Long fired both Johnny and Melina immediately.
And there was evidently a long history of heat or drama backstage, and had even been the subject of a session of Wrestlers Court in which Undertaker presided as judge.
Now there is word that Johnny and Melina are on suspension and will be moved to RAW when they return. Only Joey's pic was on the SmackDown! superstars page as of this morning. And HE has taken time off to attend to some personal issues.
I would THINK that Joey would want to take time off! The poor sap has been stabbed in the back by both his erstwhile manager---a loose cannon in her own right---AND his erstwhile partner.
It is abundantly clear that MNM are no more. They came in with a bang and they definitely went out with a bang!
But then again Melina has been bringing this on herself for so long, in fact MNM did, but Joey is running like hell to distance himself from MNM. Good luck, Brother Joey. You'll make it.
Johnny: He is also as we found out a bit of a loose cannon given his reputation as of late. Maybe anger management is in order? Even John Heidenreich underwent the same, as has Big Show.
Melina: OMG don't get me STARTED on Melina! Let us say that my most blunt remarks about her are NOT the kind of remarks you would want to make to your pastor or your rabbi or your imam or your priest. I derided her splits on the apron, I used to spit at the telly whenever they would steal another match---they rarely if ever won a match fairly, largely due to Melina's interference with the matches, like distracting referees or opponents, clearly a dirty fighter. And that is topped off with layers of snobbery and a generally foul attitude, with absolute disrespect for her opponents and the audience, who regularly jeered MNM. And in recent weeks her "primal" earpiercing scream has been met with thunderous booing.
Brother Vince had met with Melina recently regarding her problems with Sharmell. Now it looks like he is being way too charitable with Melina if not also with Johnny.
If I were in Brother Vince's position I would most certainly have not been NEARLY this charitable. I would have given the both of them a loud and clear gruff growl of

Australian Prime Minister John Howard had to face down some heat from a Dublin University student who challenged Prime Minister Howard on his country's vast majority stand against same sex "marriage".
The prime minister correctly affirmed that it is radical gay and lesbian activists acting in fundamentalist fashion trying to force their minority fundamentalism upon the masses of Australia.
Of course Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby spokesman David Scamell offered the following:
"Given that both Labor and Liberal say that they don't support gay marriage, I don't think it's likely to happen anytime soon, but that doesn't mean he is in touch with what Australians want."
Actually Mr Scamell could not be more wrong: The reality is most Australians, as is the case with most Americans, are vigourously opposed to same sex "marriage". Australians will never accept same sex "marriage" as a whole. It is not in their nature.
As is the case with most radical Marxists who have hijacked the gay and lesbian rights movement, prostituting LGBT folk for the sake of forcing their own fringe minority neoliberal neosocialist neocommunist hegemony upon the masses, Mr Scamell has got everything back to front.
The plain and simple is the Australian people by far and away defend REAL marriage, a union exclusively between one man and one woman. And until people like Mr Scamell get that fact, they will continue to be on the losing end of this debate.
And I am pleased to announce that LGBT folk in the US are starting to see through the neocom smokescreen. Already weblogs like "Homocon" and "Gay Patriot" have popped up, and there is even a pro-life organisation based largely of LGBT folk who support unborn rights, PLAGAL.
All I gotta say, is keep on fighting, folks. As a heterosexual man myself I support every effort by LGBT folk to resist the neocom hegemony.

Mahmud Ahmadinejad: The NEW Adolf Hitler Of The Middle East

All hell broke loose yesterday when the National Post of Canada reported about the Iranian government's plans to start forcing non-Muslims to wear badges.
Needless to say the entire world erupted in disgust and outrage. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper put it right when he stated that it was reminiscent of Nazi Germany when the Iranian parliament approved a plan to require thr country's 25 000 Jews to wear yellow strips of cloth on their clothes.
The measure also calls for Christians to wear red strips on their clothes and Zoroastrians to wear blue strips.
To be forthright Mahmud Ahmadinejad and his tyrannical authoritarian regime are disgustingly vengeful and hateful. After all, it was Ahmadinejad who has been calling for Israel to be wiped off the map, tempting the largest and most advanced military in the Middle East to strike.
And with the US-led Coalition next door in Iraq and Afghanistan, Ahmadinejad is clearly at risk of being wiped off the map himself.
The Iranians have boasted endlessly about their plans to continue their nuclear programme, some components of which have come from China, no matter WHAT the global community thinks. And doubts have been raised about the strength of the Iranian nuclear programme but I don't doubt the Iranians' prospect, especially not after hearing the anti-Semitic filth coming from Ahmadinejad.
Mahmud Ahmadinejad is clearly a threat and a present danger round the Middle East, the new Saddam Hussein, with the same prospects for the same atrocities that Hussein committed in Iraq during his 34-year dictatorship.
Whilst Iraq continues its recovery from the last Hitler of the Middle East---their parliament has confirmed a new government amidst significant violence in the capital Baghdad---Iran is just starting to enter its dark ages.
The difference between then and now is the growth of the independent media and the Internet to expose the truth about those sorts of regimes.
Neighbours are justifiably worried---Kuwaiti Arab President Muhammad AlSagr has expressed concerns about the safety of the nuclear programme given that Iran has also used Russian components---and the danger level is abundantly evident.
And Ahmadinejad's government are hardheaded in their refusal to stop their nuclear programme, even as the European Union proposes an aircraft incentive for Iran. Clearly this can mean nothing but trouble brewing ahead.
It is widely known that the Nazis forced Jewish people under their jurisdiction to wear yellow stars of David, whether they were in the community, in the ghettos or in the camps. And the fact that Ahmadinejad is forcing a similar badge of oppression upon the Jews of his country is just as disturbing.
Another symbol that came from Hitler's regime is the pink triangle used widely by the homosexual community, because that is how the Nazis branded homosexuals. And Ahmadinejad is also working in similar fashion by branding other non-Muslims.
Clearly the jihadist regime of Iran needs to be vacated. Mahmud Ahmadinejad is drawing closer to the day when he will get his wish for war with Israel and the West...but he is not going to like the results.
And then we will have to topple ANOTHER Adolf Hitler in the Middle East.

Captain Picard's Journal: Another One Of My Choice Pleasures

For some reason I went to the dashboard after adding the weblog entry about Interstates 39 and 63 and checked out Captain Picard's Journal which I happen to find very interesting as it takes a look at Star Trek series character Jean Luc Picard (who was portrayed by Patrick Stewart in Star Trek Next Generation and Voyager as well as the movie Star Trek Insurrection).
I would also suggest you give that a look at an interesting part of science fiction history and one of the most iconic figures in that realm. It takes a look at mundane things like the collapse of the laundry machine and more unique like Seven Of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan) going on a shopping trip.
I cannot say that Capt Picard is living a fantasy; I will reserve that judgment for the Democrat leadership, the controlled media in America, and the leaders of Zimbabwe, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, China, and North Korea.

Volume Five, Sixteen Interstate Highways That The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: Interstate 39

Interstate 39 is a bit of unique route to be forthright, and a fairly recent innovation. It has come along only in the past 15 years or so as a connector from Madison WI into central Illinois. But I have bigger plans for the I-39 and maybe some of you folks might too.

We start from its present terminus at Bloomington and bring that route toward the Gulf and south Florida first by sending it on a direct path to Evansville IL, which along with neighbouring Owensboro in Kentucky are forming part of a growing metropolitan area that should be attracting more commerce to the area in the coming decades.
And part of that dynamic means that the growing Southern states will need additional corridors to major metropoles of the North. Interstate 39, and the proposed I-63 as well, will help to connect that area with other metropoles throughout the Great Lakes, the Midwest, and the South.

Kentucky and Indiana are definitely on the move as are Southern states like Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida, all of which are on the I-39 corridor. It even runs through eastern Chattanooga and links western Georgia to the western Great Lakes as well as providing Columbus with a 2di, freeing up the I-185 for a new corridor elsewhere in the Peach State, and then puts some of the Florida West Coast on the Interstate Highway System, before putting the Florida's Turnpike on the same system as well. The significance of the addition of the turnpike to the Interstate Highway System cannot be underestimated as it not only gives the Sunshine State a direct connection to the western Great Lakes and the Midwest but also it adds more toll revenues to the Florida Turnpike authority.

Besides the increasingly sensitive environments of central and southern Florida will be further maintained with Interstate 39 being extended without one dime spent on new construction south of Leesburg, the northernmost community on the Turnpike.

Additionally, speaking of the Turnpike, the state of Florida could even choose to put Crystal River, Chiefland, and Perry on a turnpike extension connecting to Tallahassee, putting more communities on the corridor and presenting greater income potential. Though the I-39 north of Leesburg IS designated on that map as a freeway (red line), it could easily be a turnpike, even an extended Florida's Turnpike (black line).

For Kentucky and Tennessee there are greater opportunities, even for running the I-39 between the I-24 and the I-75, forming a bit more of a fan for southern Tennessee from Chattanooga. As area US and state highways gain traffic volume the I-39 will clearly be necessary.

As a bonus I have enclosed a graphic that shows not only the proposed I-39 but also an I-63 proposal to link western Kentucky and Tennessee to Mississippi, essentially following a corridor composed of US49 to Tupelo, MS15 through Philadelphia and MS9(or 15?) through eastern Mississippi, connecting Laurel to Gulfport, a great way to help the Gulf Region rebuild from Hurricane Katrina and also connect the Gulf directly to the Great Lakes as the I-39 ALSO goes north along the US41 corridor in Indiana connecting Terre Haute. Surely the I-65 parallels the I-63 for at least some of the distance---the I-65 connects to Mobile from Gary, but could be realigned to run to Panama City FL and the I-85 could take over that stretch. But those factors will need to addressed in future. I am planning at least special segment on additional highways in the areas affected by these proposals.

Volume Four, Sixteen Interstate Highways That The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: Interstate 29

As we all recall from last summer the Gulf Coast is prone to hurricanes; we all remember what happened to the devastated Baton Rouge-Mobile area.
But this alone is not the only justification for extending Interstate 29 from Kansas City Missouri to Mobile Alabama, as the Gulf Coast continues to grow, and the same holds true for the states in between those cities.
Traffic continues to rise along key segments of this corridor, most notably in Central Arkansas, where Interstate 530 has arrived to connect Pine Bluff to the capital Little Rock. And other parts of the corridor continue to see more and more traffic, like Missouri State Routes 7 and 13 which form the basis of the proposed I-29 to Springfield, where it connects at the I-44's Junction 69 and supplants the present MO360 then multiplexes with the James River Freeway (US60) across southern Springfield to US65 where it connects through to Branson and then into the Ozarks of central Arkansas then along the current I-530 into Greenville and Jackson MS before terminating at Mobile, thus connecting a major river port with a seaport and also connecting the Midwest more directly into the Southeast.
Now some folks question the need for putting the I-29 into Alabama when it is several longitudes east of even the I-45 and I-49 as well as even the I-55 and I-59. This is something you folks should have considered before planning to put the I-69 through to Tennessee, Arkansas, and Laredo TX...Admittedly the route is a bit out of place so you might as well make the best of it.
Considering that Southern states continue to grow, including Missouri and Arkansas, and for certain the traffic demands continue to grow, this would fit perfectly within the interregional highway infrastructure.
Additionally it serves as a shipping route for prawns freshly caught in the Gulf and will even ameliorate delivery to other areas of the South and Midwest. And then there is the hurricane evacuation factor: The route could easily evacuate not only southern Alabama but also southern Mississippi in fairly short order.
Another sticking point in the Springfield area is the railway crossing that cuts through the cloverleaf at the junction of US60 and US65. That rail line is little-used anyway and can easily be replaced with an overcrossing set at a height of about 18 to 20 feet.
Also a flyover for the I-29 north from Branson to Springfield will be needed. And neither MO123 nor MO7 nor MO13 need be replaced even where the I-29 is routed; even MO291 can remain in place even if there is a lot of multiplexing as there will be with US65 between Springfield and Little Rock.

And though it will appear unusual to place a multiplex on the I-40 between Conway and Little Rock one needs to understand that that corridor will not only become part of a major Gulf-Midwest corridor especially as ethanol and other biofuels become better developed as an industry in the USA but also this will pave the way for additional 3dis in that region including one that could bypass Little Rock altogether.

And the Jackson area will also be fairly well served by this route as their population continues to grow.

But in the end the I-29 certainly could use an extension to the Gulf and will further solve transport throughout the Southeast.

But greed and power took over with two of my students. Feb. I incited Cheyenne and Manny into the craft for the first time in there lives . They then preceded to call themselves hps / hp of our coven with the backing of there kids in the coven it was a Koo. But because my wife and I are true witches we stepped down and let them lead. Then they set there eyes on totally running the store and locked us out of the store and removed us from the bank account.

But as you know we never publicized this dirty laundry on the web for fear it would hurt the business. so we had an attorney get the bank account frozen and the keys for the new locks cut and we had a meeting and resolved the mater at that time . well we all started over . But of course that didn't last long sinita, revae and i were given the cold shoulder.

we were the unwanted ex husband so we stepped back and let Cheyenne and her kids just run the store . but for the last three months the store has been run into the ground we started out with no debt and now the store owes more per month than it brings in. so we told them we could no longer bail the store out of debt. ha they told me either give them 1500 dollars or they would forcibly remove us as ( owners ) so my wife and I being the first owners of the store . going on the advice of our Attorney Got ALL of the files for taxes, 1 /3 of the merchandise, and all of the things that belonged to us personally. and we did this at 6:00 Am before the store was open so as not to hurt the stores rep.

you see we owned the name witches cabinet since 2003 when we still worked for Diann at sellers mystical cottage . and we were in the process of opening store # 2 when we got the message that store #1 was failing. The reason we haven't posted on Witches Cabinet Yahoo Group and on West side Pagans Yahoo Group is because we have been moderated not allowed to speak. Any thing we send Cheyenne just deletes. So no one in the group even knows what we say. We need help to get the truth out. Not because we want pity. But because they can and will do this to others. We just want peace. The Phenomenon Of Paedophile Teachers Is More Widespread---Worldwide

Recently I covered the case of paedophile teacher Debra Lafave including the woeful nonpunishment she received for raping a teenage boy.
Not long after that I learned of another case in Delaware, the case of Rachel Holt, who ALSO raped a teenage boy who was a student of hers in public school as well.
And then there has been a lot more attention paid to Tennessee paedophile teacher Pamela Rogers Turner who has been BUSTED for having a Myspace blog (1) and for contacting the teen boy whom she violated (2) BOTH in violation of her probation.
Now I find that there has been a number of other cases covered on Wikipedia and in Australian media, with no fewer than three such high profile cases in recent years of paedophile women working as teachers raping their male students.
And I have a real problem with the double standard afforded to female paedophile teachers versus male paedophile teachers. Why is it that paedophile females in public schools get only days or weeks behind bars yet their male counterparts ALWAYS get multiyear sentences?
Folks, this problem bothers the HELL out of me and chances are it bothers you too.
What we need is a judicioprosecutorial structure which LEVELS the playfield by mandating tough sentences for paedophile teachers of BOTH sexes AND prosecutors willing to have paedophile teachers irrespective of sex (or gender for those of you in Soviet Monica) locked up, meaning stop the 30 day jail terms for paedophile female teachers and start locking them down for 30 years or more in the toughest prison possible, and make them have to live in general population with the other female inmates who are oftentimes locked away from THEIR children themselves and show NO mercy for paedophiles either just as male prisoners show paedophiles no mercy.
Of course the misandrist extreme leftist militant feminist gangs will disagree with that. Well, it's time we the people rose up against that sort of kidglove treatment for women and started demanding---and then giving them---more HAMFISTED treatment like we give the men!
And let's have a look at some of the grave examples from Down Under...
Karen Ellis engaged in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student during October and November 2003, during which time she worked as a physical education teacher at a school in Melbourne, and even had sex with him in the same bed with which she slept with her husband. Vicious criticism erupted nationwide in the wake of her nonpunishment.
Then there is Heidi Choat, who seduced and had a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old in Central Queensland in 1998 and 1999. And she was mollycoddled at first but then finally stripped of her teaching position only to face a rather paltry sentence of two years.
Then there is Victorian paedophile teacher Cindy Leanne Howell who in 2005 pled guilty and faced a 5 year prison term for her relationship with a 15-year-old boy.
Looks like Australian justice is also having to face the same problem with paedophile teachers that WE are having to face. And the solution is simple:

Stop the double standards---NOW! Female criminals need to face the SAME punishment that a MAN would face.
Start giving female paedophile teachers the SAME LONG SENTENCES for their crimes that they would get if they were males committing the same offences.
And if you are the parent of a young boy and his teacher(s) is(are) female, particularly young females who would be considered attractive, watch her/them like a hawk. They must understand that we need to verify their trust first. Certainly female teachers are about as likely to look like sick pigs like Madonna, Cindy Sheehan, or Feminazi Feinstein as they are to look like Kylie Minogue, Paula Abdul, or Dayna Devon, but we need to be on our guard.

Of course this is not to impugn every teacher and suspect him or her of being a potential paedophile; however it is to the benefit of EVERY parent to keep their eye on the school, and particularly on the instructors and administrators as well.

Sixteen Interstates The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: Interstate 44---San Diego, California To Calais, Maine

Admittedly a lot of folks are going to question the logic of so much extension for this Midwestern and Southern Interstate route.

That is because traditionally Interstate routes are set in specific positions on the map based upon the numerical system established by the AASHTO at the beginning of the Interstate Highway System exactly 50 years ago.

And the extension of Interstate 44 from its current western and eastern termini at Wichita Falls and St Louis respectively to San Diego and Calais, Maine, also respectively, not only opens new opportunities for international truck transport between Atlantic Canada and Mexico---in fact an x44 spur actually connects TO the Mexican border---but it also sets the new length of the I-44 at just about 3200 miles, which would exceed the length of the longest current interstate, the I-90 from Boston to Seattle.

And what is the reasoning behind this new transcontinental route? Part of it lies in Nafta, the North American Free Trade Agreement. And whilst I disagree with its existence I must admit that this route not only enhances accessibility for San Diego and Atlantic Canada (including New Brunswick and Nova Scotia) but also gives the former a direct transcontinental route: San Diego is rapidly growing with some one and a quarter million people in its city limits alone, yet the nearest that it has to a transcontinental route is the I-8 which branches off the I-10 in Arizona.

Another unique characteristic is the I-44 also crosses the White Sands Missile Range between Alamogordo and Truth or Consequences in New Mexico, which ALSO opens up another defence characteristic as per one of the primary original purposes of the Eisenhower Interstate System.

Additionally this puts several other cities on a major cross country corridor, specifically Cincinnati, OH and Nashua, NH. The route crosses California and Arizona desert, New Mexico mountains and missile test ranges, Texas prairie, Illinois plains and Indiana farmland, then bucolic Ohio hillsides and Amish territory, steep West Virginia and Pennsylvania mountainsides and valleys, approaching the Catskills of New York and then western Massachusetts, followed by lower New Hampshire and even into coastal Maine, perhaps easing lobster and maple syrup producers' travel burdens.

Let's have a look at some maps, shall we?

First let's have a look at the Eastern Extension:

You will note that the Mountain Southwest Expansion Plan incorporates a number of other route proposals, at least one of which will be addressed in this series.

Also, note where the California routing goes, and as an added bonus here is a look at what San Diego's metropolitan area looks with the addition of not only the I-44 but also several other 3dis including a long x08 route through the entire county.

Incidentally my earliest I-44 extension into San Diego County was routed through the more northerly Oceanside and the earliest plan was to send an x44 into San Diego. Instead I chose to send the I-44 into San Diego via existing routes with state route markers if only because San Diego area freeways are built to the most modern standards of any metropolitan area in California, not to mention of course the higher population concentration served by going to downtown San Diego.

The I-44 is the most diagonal of the Interstates with the exception of Interstates 24 and 74, and the coming I-22. But this route also provides another direct connection from the Pacific Coast to the Northeast as well as between the East Coast and New England and the Southwest. The number of states served on this route would be quintupled and the number of miles quadrupled but the entire nation would enjoy the benefits, from the hotel manager in Joplin to the mechanic in Tempe to the builder in Binghamton. And this route would prove to be a new major artery for America in so many ways.

The Radio Equalizer with Brian Maloney is an interesting site to be forthright. It challenges the controlled media's take on current events.
But before you dismiss Maloney as another Matt Drudge wannabe consider for a moment that the internet has helped common folks expose not only the real news but also the mechanics of controlled media newsrooms. Maloney's presence signifies yet even further how much pull WE really have, that more and more we are fuelling the continued development of the independent media, something independent of the Controlled News Nutwork or Most Soitenly Nuthin' But Crap.
And he calls himself an equaliser, and that he does with his deft analyses. Put it another way: Brian Mulroney puts the electric chair slam on the controlled media in a continued handicap match that has turned tide in which now the audience have become combatants against the controlled media.

Sixteen Interstates The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: Interstate 40, California

As you might expect this route focuses on the Golden State and in fact this also extends a current interstate route to a growing coastal community.
And the big factor supporting this is a good portion of that route is already in place.
Interstate 40 currently connects North Carolina with Barstow CA following the US66 corridor west of Oklahoma City to its current terminus.

The current CA58 corridor east of Bakersfield is almost entirely freeway or dual carriageway with cross traffic, and needs only a few proper motorway junctions plus a motorway round the north side of Mojave to be regarded as complete. After that it is time to start changing out the current green-and-white spades with the red white and blue interstate shield.
Speaking of the former I have had a few interesting alternate designs for the green and white spades that have been the same for at least 40 years, this atop the roughly 40 years of white spades, including 10 of those in its current shape.

Here is a look at what it would look like if it were to follow the examples suggested in the FHWA signposting standards for state route markers, and I think that this would be an improvement for state route markers in that we would have less scrap metal to have to get rid of without all the diecutting and thus a lessened impact upon the environment.
Also the signs would be more readily visible both during the day and particularly at night.
This of course is not the only good new design but is perhaps the most simple.
Here is a look at some of the others I have developed as well:

And I have seen some other good examples of proposed route markers on the Great International Highway Makeover.

Anyway back to the extension of Interstate 40 from Barstow to San Luis Obispo. The latter is a rapidly growing community in a rapidly growing county fuelled by Los Angeles and San Francisco area residents moving away from those major cities and with the main artery US101 having been widened to six lanes in some parts of those areas, and other state routes being widened and straightened and upgraded, like CA1 along the coast CA46 in Paso Robles, CA101 in Atascadero, and CA166 to Santa Maria, and with some 300 000 residents San Luis Obispo county (and neighbouring Santa Barbara coutny, where Santa Maria is located), especially with an ageing city street infrastructure in San Luis Obispo, the city appears to be a perfect endpoint for Interstate 40.

In addition it also provides for a perfect complement for 3dis around town and to Santa Maria.

In the example on the left you can clearly see that Interstate 40 connects to the south side of San Luis Obispo near McChesney Field (the local airport) and also South Broad Street, Higuera Street, and finally US101. Also note that there is a new route for CA1 between US101 at Marsh Street and Kansas Avenue (which would then be supplanted by the I-240 junction; the I-240 would also get a new junction at Oklahoma Avenue nearby).

In the centre you can see the entire map of the recommended extension according to this plan with an additional spur for Santa Maria and Lompoc as well as a loop for Bakersfield.

And on the right there is a detailed map for Bakersfield. Note that CA58 gets decommissioned so it can go to another route to be developed, and the traditional designation of CA178 is restored to its traditional route.

Also note that there have been at least other proposal to send the I-40 to Paso Robles. Here is a look at why that proposal is WRONG:

*NO potential for 3di routes to relieve traffic in the surrounding area. You would have to cut through highly developed areas as well as lucrative farmland and wineries.

*NO place to put the I-40. You would have to cut through neighbourhoods for a southern approach or demolish vital businesses including the Black Oak restaurant which is adjacent to US101 at the CA46 interchange. And though improving CA46 to a full-fledged freeway at least to Cholame or even to Lost Hills is important it is not important enough for an interstate, not to mention no properly functioning commercial airport.

*The interstate would then bypass and shut out larger and more important communities.

WHY San Luis Obispo works better as a terminus for the I-40:

*Larger population

*University town (California Polytechnic State University)

*MORE opportunities for 3dis to serve more communities. The I-240 would wrap round the north side of San Luis Obispo to form a junction with US101 just northeast of town then connect onto the current CA1/North Santa Rosa Street/Cabrillo Highway, following that past the California Mens Colony to the current CA1/Kansas Avenue junction, which would become part of a new junction with CA1 and the I-240. The new CA1 would connect to US101 at Marsh Street whilst the new I-240 would connect straight to then new CA229 (South Bay Boulevard, connecting Morro Bay to Los Osos; CA229 would follow Los Osos Valley Road to US101) which would be recommissioned.

Also the I-540 connects from a point along the I-40 south of Pozo toward Huasna and the eastern Nipomo Mesa to the east side of Santa Maria and then follows a route to the Orcutt Freeway (CA135) then follows CA1 into Vandenberg Air Force Base and then Lompoc to reach its official terminus.

This also opens up the prospect of a possible future loop round Santa Maria if it continues to grow as it has.

And a major benefit is the San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria areas get connected into cross country routes which even further bolster the potential market for tourism to boost the beaches, Hearst Castle, and the wineries springing up in the area.

It may even enhance greater highway safety for US101 and other area highways and improve traffic flow both locally and regionally.

Now if Goverrnor Schwarzenegger wants to really boost highway construction...HERE is a route he REALLY NEEDS to support.

Sixteen Interstates That The DOT SHOULD Build: FOCUS: California Turnpike: Interstate 405

First of all allow me to note that this is merely a working route designation but one route I have studied for some 25 years. You read that right: I have been researching this route back to the early 1980s.
Anyway this is a look, and a real serious look at that, and in light of the recent proposals from California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger about a 10-year, $222bn series of projects, this is one proposal that would fit well into his plan.
This route would total in the neighbourhood of 330 to 350 miles and would form the most direct connection possible between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
And even the standards themselves would be phenomenal: Imagine a tollway that would best any German autobahn and allow people to drive as fast as they want...in the Golden State.
This route would consist of the following standards:
In rural areas, ie in Los Angeles county north of San Fernando where it meets the San Diego and Golden State Freeways and through Ventura, Kern, Kings, Fresno, San Benito, and Santa Clara counties up to the Gilroy area each carriageway would have three 20-foot-wide lanes and a 20-foot hard shoulder on each side (100ft total) separated by a 50-foot central reservation, with a 20-foot greenbelt alongside the right hard shoulder of each dual carriageway and a 30-foot area for pedestrians, bicyclists, mopeds, and even beasts of burden, with water stations every 10 miles and at each junction.
In urban areas, specifically from Gilroy alongside San Jose and Milpitas to Castro Valley, the central reservation would be replaced by a media barrier about four feet in height and spaced more closely between carriageways, maybe to as little as 6ft between them.
Each overcrossing would have a minimum height of 25 feet
At the junction with Interstate 580 the toll portion would end for a short distance and the I-405 would be cosigned with the I-580 until the latter splits off toward Oakland.
Meanwhile the I-405 replaces a controversial route, Interstate 238, which has been cited as an extreme violation of the AASHTO scheme on its way to the new San Bruno Bridge which connects San Leandro to San Bruno then forms a new toll route on the San Francisco Peninsula and through southern San Francisco past Colma and the Cow Palace and directly to the Golden Gate Park then improving State Highway 1 to the Golden Gate Bridge. This route would even provide some needed traffic relief for the City by the Bay on top of some toll revenues for local traffic infrastructure and even eliminating Interstate 238.
And let's have a look at the funding formula for the I-405/California Turnpike-San Bruno Bridge-Peninsula Turnpike.
After the operating and construction costs are paid for the funds should be distributed as follows:
The surpluses are to be split into two even portions:
One half for general state highway funding and revenues
One half for distribution to the counties in a mileage based formula.
And here is how the mileage based formula works:
The money is distributed to each of the counties on the corridor based upon how many miles are located in a county. For example Kern County would receive more turnpike money than would San Francisco or San Benito because of the distances of tollway within those respective counties.
But that money would come with the following requirements:
(1) At least HALF the money MUST go toward ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT projects WITHIN 10 MILES of the turnpike.
(2) At least HALF the remaining money MUST go toward ROAD CONSTRUCTION AND IMPROVEMENT projects within the county.
(3) No more than ONE QUARTER of the money may go toward ANY NON-ROAD CONSTRUCTION or NON-ROAD IMPROVEMENT projects, INCLUDING public transit.
And any county that violated that scheme would find their monies withheld for the next budget year.
Anyway here is a look at a typical junction that would be used in the turnpike...

As you can see from the enlarged image at the left there is a significant length of overcrossing needed for effectively handling high-speed entrances. A central toll plaza sits at a location about five miles north of Devils Den. To the right sits a road map of central California with Interstate 405/California Turnpike-San Bruno Bridge-Peninsula Turnpike.

And now let's talk tolls. The California Turnpike would require a total toll of roughly $10 for the entire route and $2 for the peninsula route, that is if the entire route were to be travelled. I used the Will Rogers Turnpike in Oklahoma as a role model for this turnpike as well as those tolls correspond more or less with those of the I-44 of northeastern Oklahoma.

And the San Bruno Bridge should be priced at 99 cents for all vehicles. THAT should help relieve traffic on the Transbay (I-80).

Turnpike regulations would be as follows:

Maximum height: 24 feet 6 inches

Maximum width: 18 feet

Minimum speed: 50 mi/h

Maximum speed: NONE

Pedestrians, Bicycles, Mopeds, Animal transport MUST use adjacent paths

Admittedly extending the I-405 appears to defeat the purpose of a 3di loop. I say it enhances it further as it takes heavy traffic off of the overburdened US101, US99, and the I-5, provides a perfect route for vehicles carrying hazardous chemicals, boosts economic opportunities, and brings about the most direct SF/LA routing ever. AND it relieves the overburdened I-680 and I-880 to boot!

Of course we do not have to stick with the I-405: If some creativity were undertaken an I-580 extension south to LA is possible...with another x80 3di for LA County, the I-480 coming back! You say, the 480 has too many bad memories for San Francisco.

So make it LA's problem. >:-)

Also there is the prospect of an I-3 in the Southeast but if that fails then there is always the prospect of extending the California Turnpike through Concord and Vallejo toward Santa Rosa to terminate at US101 north of town and having that routed I-3 as well as the San Diego Freeway, thus releasing some of the I-580 between Hayward and Tracy for the new I-405 which now becomes an east/west into San Francisco.

And then there are the state routes that are not presently being used, CA11, CA21, CA77, CA81, CA93 to name just a few.

But the main point remains that the California Turnpike, with or without the extended I-405 designation, fits in very well with Governor Schwarzenegger's plans.

Sixteen Interstate Highways That The DOT SHOULD Build: Introduction

What some folks may already know is that I am politically conscious and that I am interested in pro wrestling.
But what you may not also know is I am interested in advancing the infrastructure of our national highway system.
It may be the reason I have joined at least three Yahoo! groups regarding the American highway system.
As we all know interstate highways have developed and helped shape our national travel habits.

And now I am going into a series of commentaries that show exactly what new highways are specifically needed for the continuing development of our interstate system.

In this series I will touch upon interstate highways that the United States Department of Transportation and state highway departments as well need to build.

The first of these detailed will involve an unorthodox extension of a Los Angeles area three-digit interstate (3di) to parallel its parent one digit interstate (1di) as a state turnpike all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge itself...and in process replace a controversial 3di with no parent route.
The second of these will be a report about where Interstate 40 really needs to end...and it is not in Barstow where it currently ends either. I'll even break down some other proposals and why they WILL NOT work at all...and why my solution is superior.
The third of these will take a Southern two digit interstate (2di) that runs through my community and extend it to diagonal opposite ends of the USA connecting Mexico to Atlantic Canada.
The fourth of those will extend another 2di in my home state and send that all the way to the Gulf Coast.
The fifth of those will show how interstate commerce will further improve with yet another Midwestern 2di extended into the Deep South...this time all the way to southern Florida.
The sixth will advocate the case for realigning another Southern 2di onto a more geographically correct corridor that will serve significantly more travellers and communities especially for an x0 (a 2di ending in zero, as in 10, 20, 30, etc) route.
The seventh will advocate the case for extending another Midwestern 2di along that former corridor of the relocated x0 route and into the Lone Star State.
The eighth of those proposals will extend an East Coast 2di into the southern Atlantic region...and replace another 2di into a neighbouring state in process.
The ninth will relocate a controversially misaligned 2di which a porkbarrel politico foisted upon the people of Pennsylvania and America to the Atlantic as well.
Number ten will touch upon a new route to replace THAT 2di, using a number just replaced itself in number eight.
Number eleven will extend a truncated x0 route all the way to the San Francisco Bay Area and open up many more opportunities for 3dis to relieve growing traffic in the Bay Area and the San Joaquin Valley and will even incorporate those proposals in the mix.
Number twelve will address a more sensible way even if controversial for finally putting a major California city on a 2di.
Number thirteen will address the extension of an existing interstate in Virginia and why the plan to reroute that is wrong, and why my solution is a real improvement.
Number fourteen connects the Midwest to a major east coast seaport and military community.
And number fifteen will show an extension of a Midwestern and Southern 2di all the way to the Canadian border...and you won't believe where it connects into, with a Canadian route offered as well.
And sixteen will wrap it all up with a new Interstate using a currently proposed number but for a better location.

I should be starting this series shortly...and I hope that you consider these plans and even consider telling the DOTs and the politicians about some REAL solutions for our national highway system.

For Once I Actually AGREE With Communists!

I was reading an article from one of the newsfeeds dispersed into one of my forums about the South African Youth Communist League demanding that that country's government implement sanctions about Zimbabwe. I have to say that this is a welcome idea and something that is long overdue from the entire national community about Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe's extreme oppression.
It is basically common knowledge that Mugabe has attacked the personal freedoms of anyone who does not ascribe to his dictatorial party the ZanuPF. A short list of the evils he has done whilst in office:

He has sent his government to employ hostage tactics in the pursuit of government critics after two employees of a prominent lawyer were detained for allegedly obstructing a police investigation into his activities.

He has arrested the director of a radio station broadcasting from outside of the country to Zimbabweans.

He has allowed rampant sex abuse against children in his country.

He has sent his military to brand his opposition as an enemy of the country.

He has implemented new procedures that further bolster his regime's ability to steal land from private landowners, this on top of stealing White Zimbabwean farmers' land and giving it to far less educated Black Zimbabweans.

He has stolen the homes of some 700 000 Zimbabwean city dwellers by bulldozing them and forcing out their occupants and residents in the capital Harare, where the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, MDC, are very popular; some of the evacuees were from Mugabe's ZanuPF party.

He has routinely charged his primary MDC rival, Morgan Tsvangirai, with treason and imprisoned him for his ideological differences.

He has oppressed independent newspapers and prevented them from trying to register.

He has threatened humanitarian aid organisations who raised money to help the suffering residents of his impoverished country.

He has turned what once was a net exporter of agricultural products into a starving nation forced to rely on what little imports his regime will allow.

He has stolen a number of elections including at least two in the 2000s where opposition parties and foreign observers have described the elections process in the country as seriously flawed.

And yet no one seems to take a hard enough line against his regime, especially not in the international community.
The commmunist- and terrorist- and fascist-dominated United Nations and particularly many other African nations see fit to appease Mugabe's out of control dictatorship.
And yet just about the only nations willing to take on Mugabe include the USA, the UK, and Australia.

But now the South Africa Youth Communist League may have just sent a wakeup call to resonate with ALL of the political parties of that country. Not only are the governing African National Congress going to have to wake up and smell the reality and see the ugly truth about Zimbabwe, but so must also the African Christain Democratic Party, the Democratic Alliance, and even the White Afrikaaner-dominated Freedom Front Plus. The SAYCL have just offered a loud wakeup call that Pretoria had better well respond to. Already the culture of corruption has by replacing apartheid shortcircuited the country's chances at real freedom; but now is their chance to look upon themselves. And they may be able to find that solution by handling Zimbabwe effectively.
Thabo Mbeki---the current South African president---must be brave enough to take a harder line against Robert Mugabe. And the African National Congress have the duty as the leading party---the DOMINANT leading party of South Africa---to join the SAYCL's clarion call.
And this has to come with REAL common sense actions, NOT just talk. As the old cliche goes...talk is cheap.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the devastation Robert Mugabe has wrought on his country.

The CONSERVATIVE Case FOR AlJazeera

I think it is safe to say that the controversial Middle Eastern satellite television news network AlJazeera has rattled a number of minds and invigourated many others.
The Qatar-based news channel is often cheered by some for telling the truth about Middle Eastern and even American and European governments whilst it is reviled by others for allegedly appeasing terrorists.
Well, let's cut through all the rhetoric and I will explain to you why I as a conservative trust AlJazeera, and why other conservatives NEED to TRUST AlJazeera.
First of all, let us understand that AlJazeera are in business to report the news from a Middle Eastern perspective. And whilst the Qatar government have financed this operation they have worked to ensure a suitable alternative to the British Broadcasting Corporation (who themselves are launching an Arabic language news channel) and Cable News Network their journalism has exposed the inner workings of Middle Eastern governments and even some terror operations.
But they have also been accused of fomenting terrorist activity such that the Coalition governing Iraq which is building its own government have excluded the network from that wartorn country.
Of course we all know that AlJazeera have aired a number of videos featuring AlQaeda mastermind Osama BinLaden. Admittedly I used to see AlJazeera as the terrorist's primary mouthpiece.
But then I started reading articles from the AlJazeera English website (see their logo on the right and click that to get that news source) and after careful analysis of their articles which come sometimes from their own reporters and other times from other agencies I have come to this conclusion:
I admit that a fair amount of AlJazeera's reportage about the United States and Israel is negative especially with regard to the American-led War On Terror and efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq to quash AlQaeda and other corruptors of the Islamic faith and the endless moves Israel must employ to deal with terrorist activities by Israeli Arabs not satisfied with having to live under Israeli law whilst on Israeli land respectively.
However when it comes to the reportage of other issues from round the world, from South Asia to the East Indies to Latin America to Europe, and with regard even to business and science and technology, and even on other matters in America and the Middle East, AlJazeera actually perform a very useful service and some of their reports are very well written with a fairly objective point of view. I myself have used a number of their articles in my forums for discussion and some of them have proven very pivotal in bolstering my arguments in debates.
Of course they are not quite as objective as Fox News or the BBC (see their logos to the right and click those for their respective news stories) but then again that is sometimes difficult in the international media.
However I have a lot to say about the international media, which has a number of outlets that deserve to be placed in the independent media category as opposed to the controlled media.
These are good examples of independent media outlets:
(USA) Fox News, Newsmax, World Net Daily, Front Page Magazine, Drudge Report, Washington Times, New York Post, Cybercast News Service, National Review, Conservative Chronicle, The Limbaugh Letter, Reason Magazine
(UK) BBC News, The Times, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, Max Power Magazine, AlJazeera.com (not related to AlJazeera.net, the website for AlJazeera International, the parent of the news channel being described here; their articles are more radical compared to AlJazeera.net but more interactive, allowing for input from visitors and readers, more about them later)
(International) AlJazeera.net (Qatar) (The very focus of this article), Channel News Asia (Singapore), Deutsche Welle (Germany), Expatica (France), Interfax (Russia), Daily Star of Lebanon, Turkish Press, Israel Net Daily, ABC News (Australia), SBS News (Australia), News24 (South Africa), SABC News (South Africa), Independent Online (South Africa), NDTV (India), Rediff (India), Asia Times (Hong Kong), CBC News (Canada), CTV News (Canada)
All of the above news sources can be trusted to give you fair balanced objective and unbiased coverage, though Asia Times sometimes has strong partisan commentaries both pro and con America alike.
Honourable mentions include China Daily and Xinhua: Those may be government organs but compared to CNN they actually appear somewhat reasonable with a more moderate bias.
These are examples of the controlled media:

ALL OF THOSE media outlets MUST be approached with the greatest of caution especially given that irrational partisan hatred plagues their collective reportages. I have found significantly less bias in AlJazeera articles than have I found in reports from, say, the American ABC or CNN.
The controlled media putlets obsess over trying to force a media coup and stealing power from the people and selecting Democrats across the board in order to force George Walker Bush---the first popularly elected president since 1988---out of office with their lying liberal sayso, treasonously fomenting seditious attitudes and glorifying Cindy Sheehan as everywoman in effort to select another Democrat dictator on the order of their never-elected media puppet Bill Clinton whom they anointed twice in the 1990s then failed to anoint Al Gore in 2000 or John Kerry in 2004.
I have seen relatively little of that in AlJazeera's reportage, but when I have they have tended to be more objective than the controlled media have been.
And sometimes you find the most fascinating articles from AlJazeera, like the Malaysian government's recent decision to mix in palm oil with diesel fuel for government vehicles and a South African petrochemicals group planning soybean-based fuels.
I give them credit for challenging the official editions of state media which in that part of the world is usually run with a tight grip from the governments of the Middle East or South Asia or even the East Indies, where AlJazeera have opened a primary bureau to go along with their Washington bureau, a pivotal office in their bid to get picked up by American cable and satellite television services.
And Sir David Frost from the BBC and Dave Marash from the American ABC could have gone with a far worse news outlet. After all, one of Mr Marash's former colleagues, Aaron Brown, did leave ABC for CNN...and found himself dissatisfied.
Maybe he could find work at AlJazeera International himself.
Even their former colleague Ted Koppel---the longtime anchor of Nightline---admitted himself that AlJazeera were not trying to glorify BinLaden or terrorism but were merely reporting what news networks would normally report.
And AlJazeera reports of the BinLaden videos are decently written but have a long way to go in being of ultimate quality.
However even American controlled media outlets...including Mr Marash's former employer, ABC News...would come a long way uphill if they started adapting AlJazeera's techniques and commitment to unbiased coverage. It would be too much to ask them to try to match Fox News or the BBC.
So what is the REAL threat from AlJazeera.net? Far less than you might think. However AlJazeera will invigourate news competition in North America as it has elsewhere; the controlled media outlets will have some stiff competition. Only Fox News appears safe. The only real challenge Fox News will face is if the BBC come to the US. But initially the Beeb will kick most networks' backsides into the mud.

AlJazeera.com belongs to a British magazine that has been publishing articles about Muslim affairs for 13 years and narrowly beat out AlJazeera International for the domain. That left AlJazeera having to settle for AlJazeera.net in what was derisively dubbed a cheesier domain by a columnist.
But the suffix of your URL for your domain shouldn't bother you; it is the quality of the content that matters more.
AlJazeera.com has some fairly incendiary articles and discussions but they are more interactive than even Fox News. Many of their anti-American articles have long strings of pro-Americans commenting as well as the antis. And the good editors and hosts, including Dr Kareem BinJabbar and Sheikha Sajida, hold court with an interface that insists upon shunning single figure numbers, references to race and religion, vulgarities, and special punctuations.
AlJazeera.com is also underestimated as well.

Conservatives who worry about AlJazeera making its presence known on American television will have nothing to fear. If anyone has anything to fear it is liberals who fear that AlJazeera will further cut into the already depressed audiences of CNN, MSNBC, and the old line networks.
If anything the conservatives could stand to follow some of their articles then compare AlJazeera articles to let's say those from CNN or MSNBC about the same topics. More than likely they will find that though they fall short of the gold standards of Fox News and the BBC they still run circles round the controlled media in America with regards to quality of reportage.

Dubai Ports World Didn't Exactly Lie To Us BUT...

After the wheels came off on President George W Bush's eager desire to sell out our national ports security to a foreign government-owned company for the sake of his precious "bottom line" when Dubai Ports World announced they would spin off their American port operations as they got fed up with the Capitol Hill politicos raising hell (and justifiably at that), it appears that they may be softpedalling their spinoff.
DPW have now decided to slow down the pace of their selloff in the wake of their acquisition of P&O, this according to an email circulated by DPW's American Vice President, Robert Scavone.
Now it appears that they do not plan to unsettle the labourers at their Miami port operations.
However they must remember that the American people are impatient to see this resolution through...and after that other foreign owned ports operations and other infrastructure operations are sure to be heavily scrutinised.
As well it should be.
If we are not careful to verify the buyers of such structures then what is the point of even having them especially if they could easily abuse the elements for ill will. That is exactly why this deal did not pass America's smell test. And we feared terrorist infiltration for good reason: If this deal had been allowed to go through, how long would it have been before the Red Chinese would have taken the White House and the Military under its own "management"?

Bad Umpire, Good Game: The Run That Should Have Counted

As an American I am proud to see my country excel in the world of sport...even in a sport that it created.
And as a Boston Red Sox fan I was proud to see my Bosox win the 2004 World Series in a whopping comeback.
And now another major event has rocked the baseball world.
When the United States defeated Japan 4:3 in a World Baseball Congress game the latter were shocked by an outrageous call by a dumbassed umpire by the name of Brian Knight.
And let me tell you a bit about Knight's unpardonable sin:

With the score tied 3-3, Japan appeared to score the go-ahead run against Joe
Nathan in the eighth when Akinori Iwamura flied to left with one out and the
bases loaded. Tsuyoshi Nishioka tagged up from third and beat Randy Winn's throw
home to give Japan a 4-3 lead.
Second base umpire Brian Knight ruled
Nishioka safe but Team USA appealed the play, contending Nishioka left the base
before the ball was caught, and plate umpire Bob Davidson overruled the call
following a brief discussion with the other umpires.

Is Halliburton The Solution To Portgate?

Word has arisen that the Portgate controversy that would put eight American ports in the hands of a company run by the United Arab Emirates government could be somewhat defused by the intervention of an American company.
Halliburton have been maligned for allegedly profiting from alleged "no-bid" contracts in the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom---at least that is what Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) has claimed---but now Senator Schumer has expressed his desire for Halliburton to take over the ports that Dubai Ports World would be operating in the aftermath of their takeover of Peninsular and Orient.
And now Halliburton appear to be the solution toward a potential compromise---and there are at least two precedents.
The 1998 China Ocean Shipping Company takeover of Long Beach port terminals that had been in the hands of the US Navy was finally allowed in 2001 whent Cosco formed the alliance with Stevedoring Services of America to create the joint venture Pacific Maritime Services; Cosco---the Red Chinese government-owned shipping proprietary does hold a 51 percent ownership stake in PMS.
And then there is the president's new helicopter, built in a joint venture last year with Maryland-based Lockheed Martin and the British/Italian conglomerate AgustaWestland.
And what is more, the prospect of an American company buying out some or all of DPW's share in such a prospective deal would positively benefit America which would still own some elements of the shipping terminals...actually they might even bolster their share of ownership compared to what it has been with P&O.
There can be no vice in demanding a review period, however; but in the end Americans should still manage as much of the operations as possible.
I myself would like to see Halliburton or another American company handle ALL of the American port operations involved. It can only benefit American industry.
As much as Americans want bargain basement goods---they still demand certain standards.
And if foreign port ownership integrates significant American partnership as well they may be more open to the idea.
Nonetheless we have seen people who condemn those who oppose the deal as being anti-Arab. Nothing could be further from the truth: Even the commercial attachée to the UAE, Reem AlHashimy, has affirmed that the USA/UAE relationship will not be endangered adversely just because this deal fails.
I would prefer to see Halliburton offer a bid for the ports...and even one for less money to boot. And no they won't need to get rid of union labour...but they should be able to get tax breaks for offering benefits like healthcare and retirement funds.
Now THAT would be a good deal for our ports...and our security...and our country as well. Even President Reagan said, Trust but verify, and we are really emphasising the verify part right now.

This means that those supporting the deal will be advocating that we allow a foreign company to violate our laws, thus showing us as inconsistent on Israel, and that misguided mindset is so ridiculously closedminded that they have consigned themselves to being prostitutes, because they love money, they are hypnotised by the almighty Dollar.

We will see how far that love for money goes in fighting terrorism if this deal goes through and terrorists sneak in, especially considering that so little of our cargo that goes through our ports is actually inspected...because it is too easy to manipulate shipping manifests and besides that if explosives or dirty nuclear materiel get through...and then a terrorist carried an attack on the Port of New York...then we would have an even bigger disaster than 11 September...and then the blood of thousands if not millions of innocents would forever blacken the money-loving prostitutes' hands.

And this is not prostitution in the literal sense so much as it is in the figurative sense: This form of prostitution is also just as deadly, even more than the literal form.

The risks are too high to allow a dictatorship government-run company to run a port especially when the dictatorship decapitates non-Muslims finances terrorist activity derecognises Israel and even forms an alliance with the Taleban.

Why Didn't I Just Replace It The First Time?

My computer started acting up, specifically my boot drive, and I had to take it in to a technician who determined that the boot drive was failing and the solution has been determined that we will use the current servant drive as a new master drive. Which is probably what I should have done in first place, simply replaced the old 6,4GB C/D drive with the new 80GB hard drive...
Isn't that about a bugger, when you have to have someone do for you what you should have done yourself? Somehow my first clue should have been that it was no longer defragmenting properly...
But in the end my plan is to get another 80GB hard drive to use as another servant/slave drive to what is about to become a new master...

James And Chad, We Hardly Knew Ye

On this Friday night's edition of WWE SmackDown! you can catch the last on-air appearance of James and Chad Dick, forming the tag team The Dicks.
The muscular, hunky young male duo based in New Jersey were just released by World Wrestling Entertainment.
I suppose it was kind of hard to get behind these two fellows but then again if they had actually gotten to face the undeserving and overrated tag team champions MNM---consisting of a heavily-implanted pornographic snob named Melina Perez and her two worthless, sterile, unkempt, nasty, dirty-fighting, cocky, punk-assed pimps Johnny Nitro and Joey Mercury---maybe The Dicks might have actually held the title for a while and they might have stayed.
Of course the Chippendale clones were a bit of comic relief and of course accomplished wrestlers, but it was nearly impossible for them to gain traction.
That's OK. Maybe they will work out for TNA or even back in the WWE development leagues Ohio Valley Wrestling or Deep South Wrestling. Who really knows?
And no, I don't think that "Dick" jokes alone are a reason to keep James and Chad around, why, when they showed the level of talent so many others wish they had to exhibit on a national and even international stage.
I hope that the two lads will find greater opportunities elsewhere. Brother Vince will certainly wish he hadn't let them go.
But then again there is always the Draft Lottery. Maybe Melina will get sent to RAW.

From Six To Five And Back To Five And A Half Networks

First there was the advent of the WB and UPN networks in 1995 to challenge CBS, ABC, NBC, and the then-fledgling Fox TV Networks.
But even with more ambitious programming, with the WB spawning popular shows like The Steve Harvey Show, Unhappily Ever After, and Charmed, and the UPN giving us Girlfriends, Veronica Mars, America's Next Top Model, and WWE SmackDown!, they still continued to struggle.
Last month the two decided to unite to form The CW, taking a letter from CBS and Warner Brothers, two different television studios that united the low-rated networks under a joint venture between media titans TimeWarner and Viacom.
Then they started picking the stronger stations in each market to carry the CW which inevitably means that some stations wound up being orphaned.
Now NewsCorp, the parent of Fox Television and Fox News (see the links to your right) and Fox Sports, is announcing a new network, "MyNetworkTV", which appears a little unwieldly to begin with.
Whilst it does incorporate some of the orphaned stations especially in 10 major markets like Los Angeles and Chicago and New York---VERY crucial markets to start with---it also offers greater opportunities for the orphaned stations left out of the CW project.
However it also offers MAJOR challenges for the MyNetwork crowd: The schedule starts with two serials following a telenovela format common in Latin American television, airing two dramas six nights a week.
This alone means that the new network needs to start developing a more diverse schedule right away. They need to find programmes that truly appeal to the greatest number of people possible and do so in a tasteful fashion. But they need to take great care to ensure enough interest in programming variety to hold the viewers and attract new groups of viewers.
And the fact they are planning a game show is a good step but they still need to work on other shows like comedies. They are already planning a supermodel talent search and need to work on developing a show similar to Pop Idol as well.
MyNetwork has A LOT of potential for good and bad alike and right now they need to focus on the broader market, not just niche markets like for Blacks and Latinos and gays and that sort of thing. If they can pull out a popular programme that attracts people from a wide spectrum of the populace then this new half-network might well develop into a FULL network and maybe even attract the ex-WB and ex-UPN affiliates more quickly and with greater results.

However, at the Smackdown tapings tonight, it was announced that Rey Mysterio will compete in the World Heavyweight Championship match at Wrestlemania anyways. Instead of the World Heavyweight Championship match being Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle, the match will be Randy Orton vs. Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio.

Now tell me you didn't see that one coming. Randy Orton had vowed on last week's SmackDown! that Rey Mysterio would never main event Wrestlemania. Looks like Orton is about to be forced to eat crow...either with a broken ankle or a 619.
Either way he is going to come out of this the clear loser.
That leaves Kurt and Rey Rey to sort this one out. Kurt has the intensity, integrity, and intelligence, but Rey Rey has the speed and the lucha libre background.
Put it simply: Rey Rey may have a slight advantage...and can you imagine what a boost it will be to see the five-foot-four-inch one hundred ninety-pound dynamo to come away the World Heavyweight Champion? That would mean I would outweigh the new heavyweight champion by 50 pounds in that case and that is likely to happen. And even if Mark Henry or Undertaker interfere...it still won't make a LICK of difference as Rey Rey will sting you with speed, to speak nothing of the sitting senton and the inezeguri and the tiltawhirl headscissors...and then the drop toehold that sets up the 619 will hamper even the giant Big Show or the gorilla Mark Henry.
Wonder if Rey Rey might even hit Melina with the 619? I know he once hit Jillian Hall and John Bradshaw Layfield with a double 619. All I know is he had better damn well make a stop in Joplin on 27 March!

It Could Have Been Me...

Whilst I was waiting in a queue at Joplin Memorial Hall for WWE SmackDown! Live tickets in 10 degree weather I read the brief headline of a very disturbing newspaper story about a young teen sexually assaulted on the north side of town then picked up by a motorist after several others had driven past. And the kicker is she was outside in this subfreezing brutal cold without shoes or socks after she had escaped her attacker.
As I stood in line for three hours that frigid morning I was too concerned about getting ringside seats to worry about that, sad to say, I had wrestling on the brain, talked with other wrestling fans in the queue about how MNM suck, how Mercury and Nitro look like raggedy wimps, and Melina looked like a tramp, and how Mark Henry looks so much like a gorilla, how John Bradshaw Layfield is a jerk, how great Rey Mysterio is, how great Eddie Guerrero was, Bobby Lashley is awesome, Randy Orton is a punk, da, da, da, and then after getting my third row ringside seat I drove off, to the east side of town, just to get the snow off my car as we had had about an inch of snow the night before.
If I had driven to the north side instead, I know what I would have done if I had seen that first: I would have stopped to give her a lift to the police station and then had her tell the police her story.
Because I don't see the point in letting a crime victim suffer in frigid cold. I am glad someone did finally give her a lift but if I had been driving North Main Street that morning, I know it could have been me in the position of hero...

Why President Bush Is WRONG---THIS TIME...

Last week ended with a massive firestorm about the impending deal to allow a United Arab Emirates government-run corporation to assume port security duties for seven American ports.
Now, with the facts that the UAE government have openly exercised anti-Semitic views like calling for Israel to be destroyed, recognising the Taleban as the "legitimate" government of Afghanistan, and provided financial aid to the 11 September bombing suspects, President George W Bush STILL stands by the decision and even vows to veto any effort Congress makes to scupper the whole deal.
Ordinarily I would stand with the President on this...yet OTOH the UAE stand for everything he is against, including supporting terror, opposing Israel, and supporting the totalitarians that outlawed television and forbade Afghan girls older than eight from going to school.
Consequently President Bush is acting in a rather hypocritical fashion here.
And politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle are RIGHT to do so.
I even found myself agreeing with Senator Charles Schumer, D-NY, whom I would ordinarily call Schmuck Schumer, or even worse, instead of Schmuck, something that sounds similar but starts with...you get the picture.
Schumer has blasted the Bush decision and not without good reason: He has caught Bush turning heel and called him to account.
And for all of his previous displays of irrational partisan hatred going back more than a decade Schumer is on the right track this time.
Why allow a government-run company in a country with a spotty record...at best...for opposing terrorist conduct...to run security at a GUARD SHACK let alone half a dozen American ports? The doubts are too strong for President Bush to stay on this course.
If he wants to veto any effort to scupper the deal with Dubai Ports World let him go ahead and do so but with the clear understanding that he will certainly face a veto override he never expected.
Michael Savage and Sean Hannity clearly get it; it is a shame that Rush Limbaugh for his accuracy record does not...but he may want to think this one over.
As should President Bush.
Forget the bottom line: We the people do not want our security sold out to an at-best questionable government-run company: We need an AMERICAN company to deal with this issue...failing that put this in the hands of the American government, even if it IS under Homeland Security, which is rather well mismanaged is.
